That was in an auction recently. Some great vintage stuff in it.
The auction was in the middle of nowhere with poor options for postage and packing. If you look at the prices someone got some real bargains as a result.

Looks like the tube stuff sold well. Funny how my dad and my uncle were so happy to pitch their tube gear for solid state years ago.

New speakers. Build a OJAS bookshelf kit. No wife approval yet on optics over the LS3-5a.

Interesting background and story. Commercial JBL driver… how do they sound? The wife might appreciate a finish on that birch wood.

Some nice kit on here. I have two Yamaha amps. One that is only connected to a TV, turnable and CD player. The other is a newer multiple media rec which is central to the home cinema.

I'm not sure my ears are good enough to hear much difference.

However, I have a few albums which sound very good and some a bit rubbish despite how much I clean them

No judgement on sound yet, only ran for a few hours. But certainly lively.
The speakers, like all my plywood speakers, are finished with the mots exquisite bee's wax from happy bees. Makes all the difference in sound if the bees are happy. 😁 It is more the size of the speakers my wife is concerned with.

Best

Show her the Quad ESL you'll replace them with. 😁

I have a 500C great receiver. The 800C (same machine with addition of AM radio) seem to go much cheaper. Wherabouts are you? an 800C fully refurbished and recapped sold on ebay recently for £500 that was in Finland. The guy seems to refurbish a lot of vintage HiFi and ships it worldwide.
I’m in San Diego, I’ll look for the 800.

In the original fisher price list from 1966~ the 500C is about 100.00 cheaper than the 500T somewhere around 459 I think.

Good suggestion!
I also have 6ft tall coughs pipes in the basement which do not fit the room due to the roof angle 🙁

Some vintage and some what rare speakers. Fairfax FX400, been going around and around (months) with owner to meet finally happened yesterday. They are big speakers also over 100lbs.
Can’t find any real information about the company. But after posting in several places, my IG account got a message from a guy that actually owns the 350, bought brand new by grandpa in 1974. He still has the brochure were it shows the whole line. So I’m picking them up on Tuesday, need a large vehicle, also the owner is away again. The receiver was for the sound demo, also for sale.

Took advantage of the 11/11 sales and picked up a Topping/ Shenzhenaudio EX4 DAC/ HPA. It was delivered yesterday, and today I installed an equalizer program on my PC so I can now stream Tidal through a good DAC and with equalization to improve the FR of my headphones. I spend enough time on my home PC (I can remote in to my work computer) that I can now appreciate having top-class PC audio.

Just for entertainment value I've always wanted to design an amp based on all 6336 and 6550 tubes because they all share the same envelope size.

Nice patina.
A bit much I think, but is fixable. I’m sketching a new plinth right now.
