What I can see, is the case and caseback in good nick, that can be used. The movement will have serious water damage, looking at the rusty crown gear. You can probably save the bridge with serial number.
Considering the parts needed to restore this watch (except movement parts), you are reaching 2k euro at Omega. Plus spare 910 movement.
Hmm, it can be a project for someone, but hardly profitable.

2 days left and holding at €525- who’s gonna grab this crispy critter?

Seeing as I’m someone who polishes my work boots, this isn’t my kind of patina.

James, I don’t use EBay much if at all.

Would you be concerned about the seller?

Recent member, weird feedback rating. He has received more feedback than his number indicates, and quite a bit from the same established buyer.

But I have lost track of how EBay works. Got burned on some cheap buckles from China during COVID. That was the convenient excuse for everything back then. I only lost about $30. Gave up except for Canadian and some US sellers on occasion.

eBay buyer protection should cover you and also have your account linked to credit card. I have taken several risks (have one incoming actually) banking on the double wall.

I had a look and it looks ok. Just buys more than he sells and into model kits (almost as bad as watches) as long as seller protection applies it should be ok / no big alarm bells.

I generally look at the history of sellers as well. The one I am gambling on is a new seller (1 feedback, 2 sales), but he has a bunch of cheap broken watch bundles, some random estate sale crap- etc. Looks to be someone who stumbled on a bunch of garbage and is looking to sell it- he just happened to let a gem slip through.
The ones I am always cautious of are the ones where the seller had no listings and magically is selling 10 high dollar watches, or someone who sold fitness clothing and all of a sudden has listed 70 rare watches with the second page saying “do not bid, contact me directly at this email”- that’s usually a hijacked account.

I had already messaged the seller when this thread was created and they are really nice. North America is excluded from participating but if you have an address in the EU, they are happy to ship to that 👍

Same and speaking of fashion accounts... I have had a saved search for Aquastar Benthos 500 and one day a nice looking one came to auction starting at $0.99. I looked into it and the seller has a long history of selling cheap women's clothing and accessories. I look at the item description and she acknowledges that she has no idea what it really is apart from what is on the dial. She says she inherited her grandparents belongings and found a few of these in the garage tucked away and that was that. It was a nice looking piece and it ultimately sold for $1,840. That was in the middle of this past December. Fast forward to now and she's on her fifth different Aqua Star Benthos 500 listing and now starts each auction at $1,499. She found a photo of her grandparent wearing a watch and now uses that in each of her listing and each listing says the same thing about how rare the watch is and I'm like 😕 how many of these did you find???
