Reminds me of my money pit.

Curious that I may have found the hands. Do not know what happened to the back.

Lol you’re gonna need a donor for that one.

Turned out the donor Val-23 fit into the Clebar case that I got for the lemania 105 (1280) that I attempted to put a Landeron 48 into. But I have plenty of threads on the subject. I think I am about 500+USD into the parts so far.

I have been playing musical chairs with my Venus 170 movements and cases. The search for a case for my 351 continues ...

I have another chrono case coming from eBay this week.

Am I the only one who will keep dial and hands (if they are salvageable ) relume them, and fix the rest?

I'd send it to Omega Switzerland for a full restoration.

Price predictions? It’s already at 515€ !
There is still ample margin before it makes no sense anymore restoring it (financially speaking ).

Assuming that they accept it, it might cost the proverbial fortune.

This is one of those basket cases where they are probably the best bang for the buck. Plus you will get the remains back in a baggie (provided they have a service dial and hands and don’t have to refinish those) so you could do with them as you wish- best of both worlds.

If one wanted to keep the case and dial char-grilled but have it operational, someone like @Archer is the way to go.

Was restored, but I do not have the after photos.

I was actually looking for this picture.

These were in a pizza parlor that burned (actually more of an explosion in the oven hood.) Water damage is usually worse that the heat fire damage. That photo is a bit of a cheat as I put the scorched roll back on the frame after I restored it.

Just came along this offer and wanted to share with you

https://www.ebay.de/itm/385460245398

Interesting to see how a watch can be damaged in a fire. Tbh I would imagine worse. Hands are still "intact" as is the inner bezel. Maybe the crystal saved them, but was detached later to see whats left inside. Would be interesting to see the movement.
Someone here brave enough to get it? 😀

Some pics for documentation purposes:
If he ships overseas and it doesn't get too expensive......

The Flightmaster is on my watch list. It depends on the final price, but if I get it I will try everything to get the watch with its patina running again!!

Flights this time of year are often cheap.

Somehow I do not think they would sell for 39.95 which is all I have to spend. As I said I am 500 or so into the Heuer not including the massive amounts of time I have spent on it.

Love it, very cool look.
Imagine keeping that patina and getting it going with a crystal sealing it all in?
Here is a friend’s Rolex Milsub, found after being lost in the sea off a UK beach.
(Watch and photo credit Grahame Fowler)
The pics at "A Man & His Watch" look better 😁 Nice find anyway. 🥰

Terry de Wick is missing in the McIntosh family
You knew where I got the pics!
I met him back in ‘08 and spent half a day with him at his shop/home- sweet man with a savant knowledge of all things electrical.
