I am considering buying this piece below. It's my first vintage buy so I would really appreciate your opinion on the quality and the value. The suggested price is 1200 USD.

Welcome to the Forum!
Any photos of the medallion caseback? What are your opinions?

@wilderbeast Thank you! I have added a picture of the caseback.
I am very new to this, but looking at it, it seems in really good condition, the seller is someone I trust and so I am less worried about authenticity but I would love to hear the opinions of the experts here. Doing some research and looking at similar watches on the forum here, the price seems reasonable as well to me.

dial looks good through the fuzzy pictures
mov't looks good
case looks good
crown appears correct
back looks good
price is on the high side of reasonable for a dome, but overall condition warrants that premium

Do you like it?

@TexOmega Thanks! I really do, I have always found the vintage constellation (or "connies" as I realized browsing the forums here) absolutely gorgeous. And to find one in this condition is great! I am happy to pay a bit of a premium given the condition. But I am also buying it as a gift so hopefully they would agree!

Yours looks beautiful!

It's a lovely looking watch. Maybe a bit soft on the lug edges but not enough to bother me. Signs of wear on the movement? No idea as to whether the price is good.

rotor edge on mov't looks sharp and unscrapped just as the inside of the caseback appears unscrapped.

definitely needs a service

The seller mentioned that it has just been serviced (last month) does it not look like it?

I enhanced the pictures and this is a watch in "premium condition" in my opinion. All genuine, price is a little high as mentioned by TexOmega.
Go for it (try to negotiate the price) and get some documentation of the mentioned service. It´s a beautiful timepiece! 👍 😀

If he's able to produce proof of service it would be good news !

@fshoukry welcome

I have a fondness for these particular Connies and can understand your enthusiasm
I don’t wish to rain on anybody’s parade but from the photos, this case is not in good condition.
The lugs are so heavily polished that there is no sign of the facets that should be there.
it has a replacement crown instead of the correct hidden crown - which is fine but price should reflect this.

The dial looks good (Unusual ‘full indices lume’ more normally seen on an .004 rather than an .010) but with the crown and the case in this condition, this is a $500 watch not a $1200 watch.

I agree $1200 maybe a touch “aspirational”, but if i was selling, I’d want somewhere close to $800 in USA, and close to £900 If selling in Blighty

@Peemacgee I have the upmost respect for your knowledge regarding connies but this is not a $ 500 watch. The things you mention are totally right but if you put up this watch for sale on chrono for let's say $ 800 it will be gone within one week (ok, make it two). But I understand for you personally the watch is worth less. But most people dont care about the polish and yhe crown they dont know. I would value this watch between EUR 750 and EUR 1000.

and looking at the caseback it's hard to believe this watch was serviced recently

these are semi- hidden crown models, correct?

maybe I missed a re-characterization of this reference.

much as I love these watches, they don’t (yet) command the premium of a dogleg.
£900 should still buy you an absolutely pristine .010 - with box and papers.

the lugs on the OP’s watch are knackered -so as a collectible it’s worth the dial and the movt to me.

if you are just after a vintage Omega then I guess some people might pay more.
