My guess is it's going to be a 321 release possibly replacing the Ed White. I think the hype about the Ed White has died down a bit and they want to create a new hype piece for the collectors. I hope for the same level of accuracy as on the Ed White. If it's a 321 release it's going to come with a price tag. My guess is 1k+ north of the current Ed White.

Another possibility is something in precious metal that most of us here would not buy for a price north of 50k.
If Omega makes it a 321 FOIS, then they'll need to go all the way with lollipop seconds hand, hesalite, alpha hands. It needs to be different enough from the EW321.

I would also add if it is a new “321” omega should bring back the pulsation bezel. However, that would not be the FOIS referenced in the post.

My money is on FOIS with the 3861 movement in 38mm.

Omega flogged over 15,000 FOIS over its life so there is a market there for a smaller, straight lugged Speedmaster. The natural thing to do is drop in a 3861, freshen up the looks (ceramic bezel, sapphire sandwich) and sell it as an alternative to the Professional model, or as an addition in one's collection. More profit in that than putting in a 321 at double the price. All will be revealed next week.

imagine with a 321 movement, but not sedna gold plated. Just a workhorse 321 movement, from the assembly line.

Not a fan of a lollipop seconds hand on a chronograph that some (me) still use for timing.

lol! I know right! But I think it's not bad this time, 62th Anniversary of 3rd Oct 1962. Of course it would be more awesome if's 69th Anniversary of 1969 lolol

If Omega wants to do a true heritage model, this new release needs the Ed White treatment. 321 movement (it's here now, Omega has it!), possibly even with a closed caseback. 2998-2 or 2998-3 design.

It could be a good time to discontinue the Ed White after it's almost 5 year run.

There's no way Omega is going to do a 321 Speedmaster with a closed caseback. The 321 is their halo movement and the amount of people who will buy a closed caseback 321 at a premium is really limited.
