You are correct Eve! I swapped out the FOIS dial for the same reason I swapped out the sapphire crystal and the seconds subdial hand: I appreciate the CK2998 vintage vibe.


The 57 Omega dial has the correct CK2998 applied logo, correct Speedmaster script, and correct number of sub minute markers. I also like the vintage look of the matte dark gray dial, especially when juxtaposed against the deep black aluminum bezel. One of my favorites more than I ever expected.

"See through" spiralwinder back that also reduces height considerably.
Brushed lugs.

It looks really well. I guess the back is aftermarket?
Did the watch have the same antimagnetic cover inside like the Speedies do?

Last week in the Omega museum... The actual Speedmaster CK2998-4 chronograph spaceflown on Mercury-Atlas 8 "Sigma 7" in October 1962 !

Your post inspired me to pop my modded FOIS on to my much less fancy bund. Having not worn if for a while I'd forgotten how much smaller the case actually is when compared to a moonwatch

Omega just posted on their instagram on Oct 3, 2024. I think the FOIS is coming back!
I just noticed that.

Did hear rumours a smaller Speedy was coming (& annoyingly thought these were the 38mm released).

Be interesting to see what this will be

This could be very interesting release. I hope the price is closer to the normal Speedy, than the EdWhite
Think I’d like just a smaller current Speedy. Although I doubt this will be the case
