First Omega In Space (2012 Speedmaster) FOIS, Roll Call

I am loving my FOIS, I’ve had it for 2 weeks. My first Speedy was what turned out to be the Tin Tin. I liked it and then the story broke and it shot up in value. But the strange thing was I always coveted the early ‘60s straight lug version. I sold the Tin Tin and I really like the FOIS better. I don’t care if it ever blows up in value, and I doubt it ever will. Next to the Ed White this watch seems like an absolute bargain. And I just find it so damn cool. Anyway FOIS #12,999 owner is really happy.

I just found a new FOiS at an Omega AD yesterday and purchased it. They said it had been forgotten in the safe. Number 11,9xx, which surprised me. Were they all shipped from Omega in numbered order? I'm just trying to guess about when this originally shipped and the dealer would have received it.

Congrats on your pickup. As we like to say here, “Photos, or it didn’t happen”!

No one can be precise about when the piece was shipped, but I own number 12,0xx and it had a manufacturing date of July 2018 on the outer cardboard box (or at least, that is my interpretation of MFG. DATE: 7/18 in the photo below). I therefore think yours was made around then. I purchased it new in January 2021. I think quite a few of these have spent their early lives on shelves or in storage…

possibly that outer carton information is for the box and booklet set
the watches are shipped separately in the plastic coffins along with cards and got to the dealers vault / safe afaik

Thanks for the information. Amazing that these watches would be at the dealer for 3+ years, but I guess discontinuance creates final demand. I was looking at a new Moonwatch Pro Co-Axial for my first Omega. I currently have Rolex and Tudor, but the Omega has a great look, very good reputation as well as value for the money (not to mention you can actually buy one). I just happened to mention a FOiS and the sales associate said they might have one in the safe at their main location. I guess I got lucky. As far as pictures, it did happen, but is being shipped to an out of state address to save a few dollars.

+1 on the above comment that the date on shipping box is about the shipping box and the presentation box - learned this myself the same way last year.

The watch itself goes to dealer in a little clear plastic coffin, they then transfer into an off shelf presentation box etc.

Congrats, and welcome to perhaps the most dedicated club on the forum!

My wife loves her FOIS, but had been experiencing some out-of-spec timekeeping and the occasional failure to reset the chron. She tends to wear her watches hard, but after demagnetizing etc., did not help, it went back to Omega for a service. We were advised that this would take 8-10 weeks, but were surprised to receive it back after 3, serviced and cleaned and looking as-new, and running beautifully.

So a shout-out to Omega for a quick and sure service. Even her usually sceptical aide-de-camp was impressed:

Whoa. Looks like they updated their service cases from those foam clamshells to these nice travel boxes.

Yeah, thought that was a nice touch. And the accuracy now is pretty terrific. All in all a very positive experience with Omega CS.

Hello all. I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce my recently purchased FOIS (118xx). It's a great watch and am enjoying it very much. It's my 2nd Speedy and it's def a keeper. Currently wearing it on an Omega NATO with an orange accent, SF Giants colors. Go Giants. It looks great, even though it's a 20mm strap. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.

My Omega bracelet came in.
Gorgeous. Can you tell me what bracelet model this is, and what end links?

They announced 1450 polished/brushed version as well. But I'm not sure about the result.
Is there any update on the post re a new Fortsner flat link bracelet for the FOIS. Looking to pickup a new polished/brushed version but if there will be an updated version would like to wait. Cheers.

New Forster 1450 bracelet out — just ordered for my FOIS.

Article comments on some apparent upgrades in quality over the initial models:

I must say that this bracelet seems to be a step up in terms of overall quality in every way from the models that preceded it. The recently released and discussed Bullet bracelet that comes on Forstner’s first foray into the watch world is, honestly, superior in three ways to this bracelet (the push-button buckle, the ease-of-use of the screws, and the finishing), but it is as yet unavailable separately (and doesn’t hold a candle to the style of the President 1450 when you pair it with a Speedmaster).

Just received a new Forstner President for my FOIS. Initial impressions are that it's very nicely made. Hoping to get it fitted when I have some time later in the week.
