Finding year of production for 145.022 Speedy

Hi all, hoping some of you speedy sleuths can help me out today. I bought a vintage speedy a few months ago, and it's been bugging me that I can't nail down its year.

Here's what I know
-previous owner said watch was bought in the 80s in Europe

-has grail bracelet 1450 with 808 SEL, based off http://www.omega-addict.com/reviews/bracelets/

-based off watchbooksonly speedy ID tool, it narrowed it down to either a 145.0022 80's or a 3590.50
----so that tool if you're curious, I had selected: painted Omega logo, tritium indexes, flat dial, tall/short S, full caseback, tall S, and Q short tail, 7 with serif....at the end it says for years 1983-88, it's ST 145.0022, and for years 1988-1990, it's 3590.50

-previous owner had it serviced Dec 2020 from Omega in Switzerland and here's what the service sheet said. When I got the watch, I had received the original parts, including original crown, pushers, crystal, and hands

-I've attached a photo of the inside caseback where it says ST 145.022 CRS (just read this thread https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-case-back-c-r-s-initials.98535/ )
-Serial number starts with either 46 or 48 and is on the cal 861 movement

TLDR: what year is this speedy with serial number starting with either 46 or 48? I've tried reading multiple articles with varying results

PS: I found this thread, so if serial is 46 then 1985, if serial is 48, then what year?
https://omegaforums.net/threads/1985-speedmaster-advise-on-purchase.102481/

Thanks in advance!!!

Speedmaster serials don’t increment in the millions every year, they can stay in a range of a couple of million for decades, you need at least 4 digits to accurately date one then use this:

https://www.ilovemyspeedmaster.com/productiondateprediction/

Telling us it is either 46m or 48m narrrows it down to between 1982 to 1999! If I had to guess though I’d suggest mid-late 1980s rather than any later as the case number went over to 145.0022

it worries me slightly that the service paperwork you show doesn’t list a serial, it usually should. Get the watch opened and read the serial (if present) from the movement, or if you can’t read it post a clear picture.

Thanks everyone for the replies! Was able to make out the serial number on the movement, 46232733, so it looks like 1983? according to ilovemyspeedy

Yes ILoveMySpeedmaster says 1983 October but the best was to be certain is to order an extract.

That’s one of the better sites since it offers the choice of speedy vs other but it’s still operating from a best guess. Eugene’s ILMS uses real extract data so is the very best resource there is for a Speedmaster date up to 1999. After that you have to do it yourself. I’d trust Eugene’s 1983 date over that other site’s 1985 every time.

Good to know. I appreciate the information.

Sounds strange that, as it was in Bienne for service, they did not produc3 an extract at the same time by default. Other manufacturers do that

Well they wouldn't make any coin on being that friendly to lovers of the brand.

Not for speedmasters, as that site uses the old Maddox tables which have since been proven outdated.
Thanks. Will be using the source recommended by Padders going forward.
