How do I know the year of production of my Omega Speedmaster Professional

Hi guys,

This may be a very silly question, so apologies in advance if this is the case. Last month I purchased an Omega Speedmaster Professional manual wind from a store in London. I just wanted to know if there was a way to find the actual year of production of the piece? I have typed the reference number into the vintage watch database on the Omega site which says International Collection - 1996. But thought this may be a more generic category for the movement rather than the actual year?

I'd really appreciate the feedback..

Thanks

David

The serial number (not reference) can be used to date a watch

I've seen two different sets of tables with different information. Not that it matters in this case since this table only goes up to 2000, but it makes it kind of annoying if you are trying to find a watch from a particular year (like I am right now). http://www.chronomaddox.com/romans.html
That chart is ONLY for Speedmasters.

I see that my 77million speedmaster from 2013, seems to have a movement from 2005/2006.
Is that right?

Do we agree that it is a 2005 production then?

Let me clarify 2000 and up serials from my sales

77XXXXXX started at 2000

771XXXXX started around 2004

772XXXXX started around 2008 the laser etched globed started to appear on case back

777XXXXX started around late 2009- early 2010
