superb find... but for my birth-year I would have to add another 25 years... early 1960s, a totally different kind of ball game 馃檮

Thanks !! Yeah, but I am sure there are still treasures in the drawers all around 馃槈

I haven't got the extract yet, but the serial is very close to the gold-steel speedy I've referred to so I have a good hope it to be as well from 1985 馃榾 and if not, it will by my girlfriend's birth year watch - which is also okay 馃榿

And if not, you can always find another girlfriend! Everything for the cause, of course.

...with a matching extract naturally...

Without trying to hijack the thread, which is about kov's beautiful find of a true NOS birthyear watch, and over and above the well accepted observation that green lume indicates life in a humid environment (but still, if a watch is water-tight (50m) no humidity should make its way into the watch), I am certain most folk would appreciate how (other than taking a watch in for a service) one can really determine that a watch was kept in humidity...
These had a green tint to them out if the box. Don't confuse mossy dials with green tint.

Mid 70's and 80's. 145.022-74 at least. There are many up to 98 the last of the tritiums that show original green tint no moss.

Wouldn't life be dull if there weren't new things to learn daily 馃榾 Good to know, thanks 馃憤.
I was referring to tritium in general that either turns yellow or green (at least what I have read about, here naturally)...so that just reaffirms there's even less of a way to know (with this reference) if they spent their lives in humid climates...
But now that you mention it, I do recall seeing somewhere (maybe on SpeedyPhills blog) a VERY old ad where the tritium looked yellow (i.e. of a new moonwatch ... possibly even 60's...) ...

Great find! It's rare to find NOS watches but they do exist! I have one from 1990, unworn, box, papers, untouched. Maybe I'll list it for sale one day now that I've got a 60th anniversary Speedy but I know it'll be hard to find another one if I do. These are easier to hide away with the smaller boxes. I still don't know where I'm going to put the shoe box sized box that comes with the 60th speedy 馃槖

So you鈥檝e got the answer. What are you looking for? A community approval for your own decision? 馃榾

Congrats on a steller find! I feel the same way. I picked up a great vintage Breitling with sticker and everything. Just could not wear it, which is somewhat vexxing!

I thought your comment about how you "stumbled" onto it pretty interesting. The longer I collect, the more I realized how much of this hobby is relationship driven. In a way, I find it's almost like trying to look for a job. The more people you talk to about your specific search (i.e. birthyear speedmaster) the more someone in our community will say "hey, I know JUST the guy who wants this watch" when they stumble upon something.

Congrats again.

I have finally got an extract for this one and to my great surprise it's from 1982, 26th of January. Delivered to Germany, actually to the shop where it ended up as dead stock.

It's really funny how the serials do not mean anything in the 80s 馃え

So, since not my birth year watch and since I can't wear it, it is gone to a new home 馃榿
