I’m going to assume that maybe spellcheck threw in the word Porker rather than Porsche. The similarities between the Karmann Ghia and its contemporary Porsche are rather too many, and don’t necessarily reflect the difference in price at the time. I’d happily have one in the garage to beetle around in (sorry!) but that doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally regret not biting the bullet on the 356b I looked at in 1974 for $2400 (the seller had listed it under ‘Bargain’ in the motoring classified of the Saturday Age instead of ‘Porsche’).
which means that maybe one day I’ll wish I had bought a proper Speedie but in the meantime I’ll settle for my stylish and slightly shrunk Karmann Ghia version
