Hi all,

My father in law said he had an old UG Golden Shadow laying around and asked if it was worth anything. I'm more of an omega guy and know minimal about the brand. I haven't been able to find this exact watch online so wondering if the experts here could shed some light on what model it is and if it is a redial.

Appreciate your help!

Only photo I have so far:

Worth more than a golden shower!

I too took a double take when I misread the title initially.

Judging by logo i would say it's from late 60's or early 70's. I don't see signs of redial: fonts, logo, numerals, all look good to me

Probably 18k white gold with an automatic microtor cal. 66 inside.

It's a nice classic watch but, like all three handers UG's who doesn't have Polerouter on dial, it doesn't worth much: the gold value (if it's gold like i think it is) more two or three hundred.

Others will chime but these are my 2 cents

Nice one!
Probably 18k white gold with an automatic microtor cal. 66 inside.

Very nice case and I would need better pictures to confirm but it looks original and in great conditon.

I second @gop76 for the white gold.

The golden shadow was introduced in 1966 and was the thinnest automatic watch at 2.5mm thick with either cal. 66 or cal. 67 microtor. Unfortunatly it didn't gain much interest and the tuning fork Unisonic was introduced two years later.

I would say that it's worth more than just a few hundred dollars, that's more for the white shadows. Presently in Switzerland they are selling closer to 1000chf.

A lovely watch though perhaps slightly out of fashion these days. I share the view that it is likely precious metal and, if so, this should also be for the bracelet. Is there any kind of hallmark on the underside of the clasp? I've no reason to believe that it's a redial but a better picture would be needed. Here's mine which is 18ct.

The likely value will be the gold price; assuming the bracelet is precious metal this won't be insignificant.

Hi All,

Went over to the in laws for Christmas eve today and my father in law gifted me this UG as well as an Omega pocket watch which I was not expecting and was a nice surprise 😀.

The story behind this UG is that it was bought by my wife's grandfather in the later 60s/ early 70s as a retirement gift to himself. He didn't wear it much and passed it along to my wife's father.

Was able to take a few more photos before heading to bed. Clasp is stamped WG appears to be white gold. Not sure the metal of the case. I don't see any UG markings on the band. Think this is a replacement? Also, there are some numbers on the back of the case. These where the reference numbers are located?

Merry Christmas/ happy holidays to all!

Serial No. indicates late 1966/67.

The bracelet, if UG original, should had the logo on clasp. Most likely the watch was bought with that bracelet but it was added by the retailer. In those times many countries didn't allow the import of gold bracelets and those were unbranded and locally added by the retailers or locally made under license.

Anyway, it's a great watch and, being gold, valuable.

Congratulations

Quick question:

Am I the only sucker for those "delicate" Liberace style bracelets?

Or any other unadjusted members?
