As the family watch nerd the heavy burden of finding a watch for my father-in-law has been placed in my slightly sweaty hands.

He's an architect, hates fussy dials, must be on a brown leather strap. Would probably be happy with a Braun or a Mondaine, but come on watchfam, we can do better than that right?

    What do you suggest!?

Tissot and Hamilton come to mind. I didn't check prices so I could be wrong.

I'd thought the same, however nothing seems quite 'clean' enough. Wrong kind of design language I think. The problem with looking for someone else is you get painfully close to buying another watch for yourself... I ordered a new Hamilton Khaki ::facepalm2::

Maybe a little too much of a formal/dress vibe going on.

Google "Max Bill" for the right design language, then take it from there price-wise. Good luck!

Something a little sporty then? Maybe a diver, or is that too much?

    Seiko seiko seiko.

Or if you really like clean and classical, just add brown strap.

edit : I am certain they will thrown in one of their excellent brown flieger straps, which really suite the watches (had two in the past!)...

Haven't seen a seiko that fits the bill yet but very much into the Stowa... might get one for myself.

my configuration choice : no-logo-no-date-hand-wound. but for someone who does not want to finger his watch everymorning ... auto would be second choice...

At that pricepoint - Raymond Weil have some corkers, as do Longines.
