Scott, A picture of the movement would help everyone 馃榾

Yes, I am working on that too,

It would be nice to at least see
the correct movement, since
everything else is either BITSA or wrong..

Like the fit of the back to the case..........

Is it possible that this is actually an OMEGA
case, like from an ordinary Speedmaster,
that was "modified" to become a moonphase ?

I think I bought, and returned this a while ago.

Movement photos will confirm. It may well be a different watch, but really how many can there be?

I bought it from the deceased owners daughter who after I told her it was wrong, immediately gave my money back. She was adamant she didn't want to deceive anyone and said her late father was a watch tinkerer, who must have cobbled it together in his shed.

The one I bought was a heavily modified 69 case. With what started as an 861 with many non omega or modified parts inside.

It seems a lot of work for not much benefit

Hence that is why the chronograph functions do not work. Most replicas have non working chronographs. They are just there for looks only.
Caseback is for an earlier 1969 speedy (replica caseback to boot) engraving looks laser etched.

The authentic crystal is a nice touch? Has anyone ever spotted a fake with a center-stamped hesalite? Just curious.

@OmegaCal66 he joined the forum stating he was the seller and is engaging civilly in discussion about it, why should he change his name?

TA: I am a new member of this forum, and this is my first post.

I am also the seller of the "Benighted" Speedymoon that
you have listed here "for correction.

Unkind.

I came here
asking for honest help..........

I hope that you stick around on this site and grow to love vintage Omegas (and other watches). As a long time subscriber, I can easily recognize that this is "tongue in check". A quick joke, it you will. This site is more than an encyclopedia. It's a group of characters that love to collect and share watches...........and plenty of jokes. This separates it from the other sites out there and the reason why I stick around.

I see that you have pulled your watch from ebay. We still are very interested to see what is inside. Please share.

Seller doesn't seem perturbed about having bought what has transpired to be a counterfeit watch. Even 10-15 years ago, that would have been a significant purchase if genuine watch price was paid!

Sorry, I'm a suspicious type......

I am, of course, deeply disappointed to think that
one of my more interesting watches may be
turning out to be a "BITSA."

However, it is not my only Omega Speedmaster
Moonphase, and not my only watch.

At this point, I am quite happy to have available all
the knowledge and experience of this board,
and to be able to continue learning
about a hobby I really enjoy.

In the process of "collecting" things for 50 years
(I am in my early 70's), I have found that not
all "investments" turn out well.

If this is my only "bad apple," I
will be more than pleased.

Maybe I can sell the bracelet......

Sorry, I'm a suspicious type......

And that will serve you well in the collecting world.

It may turn out that "my watch" was, as suggested above,
just a "project" of an interested watchmaker with
a pile of parts, and a junk moonphase.

Looks good on the wrist,
and keeps good time ?

Just don't let it into the
wider stream of commerce.......

I mentioned above that I "fool around with motorcycles"
and that might interest some of you like - minded souls.....

Here's a little about me ( shyly handing over the paper)

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/2010/02/article/salt-addiction-scott-guthrie/

And another little bit......

(I am on the left, in the Bonneville 200 mph Club "red Hat")

http://www.dragbike.com/guthrie-swings-the-hammer/

This last is about one of my riders, on my bike at Bonneville
It is You-tube, so use the volume.......Also notice the
speeds on the timing slip as it first scrolls past.....

I suggest that this was a bigger disappointment
that finding I have a "counterfeit" speedmaster.

So did that guy crash at 259 mph? You need a new hat with a 250 mph club logo. Seems like you are seeing the big picture with your watch too, sometimes it's not meant for resale. The guys and gals on this forum will definitely let you know if you have a lemon or a peach if you ask for their opinion or post something for sale that doesn't look quite right.

So did that guy crash at 259 mph?

I think it was "only" mid - 240's

HOWEVER, it is in the "Guinness book of world records"
as the all-time fastest (survived) motorcycle crash.....

Thanks for noticing and reading.

I am the ONLY member of the Bonneville
200 mph Club (and the only one in the
world that I know of) that has been OVER 250 MPH,
both IN a car and ON a motorcycle......

when I buy a watch with a chronograph watch,
it MUST read to 400 mph minimum........

That's why I sold my Daytona.......
