Making smart ass comment without knowing the facts. That makes no sense.

The minute you edited your post from is it fake ( I read it the minute you posted it )
To what it is now you muddied the waters for everyone as in your original first post you told the story in your 4th post.

As I see it pull up and walk away from this thread with a sorry fellas and all is good but to add to the fire your on your own.......

The lady exists. I mentioned her in the very first post then edited it.
I knew the watch was fake and just wanted simply confirmation.
I am not offended - just putting you right.

What a bunch of sour, suspicious, self righteous clowns.

What a bunch of sour, suspicious, self righteous clowns.

The "collective" is getting very tired of hearing stories about old "heirlooms" that are destined to enrich the entire family. These are usually left by some long-lost "uncle".

We'll give them the bad news straight. Then we get a lot of righteous indignation that Uncle would never do such a thing as purchase a fake watch. Then the watch will show up on eBay with a starting bid of several thousand dollars.

Your story may be perfectly legit. It's just that we are getting jaded from being taken advantage of once too often. This is where all the sarcasm is coming from. I hope you understand.

I'm sorry if you are offended, but this is life in the 21st Century.

Of course the nice thing to do would be to say nothing and just give the poor woman a couple thousand and know that you did a good deed 👍

A couple thousand yen, pesos, rupees, or what? Certainly not dollars, Euros, or pounds sterling?

. Have you never heard of soggy biscuit? Clearly you never went to a prestigious British public school.

Clearly a action that somehow missed my grasp. I bow to your superior knowledge and experience.
Although bending may not be wise in showers of a prestigious British public school. Hence the invention of soap on a rope.
You can always hang it on a suitable protuberance.

Any more like that and I shall be forced to explain the laws of cricket. Then you will be sorry!
Try it and I will counter with the rules of proper American football.

Both college and professional. Yes, they are different.

Then we'll add REALLY different football! Canadian Football League (CFL)! Canada's version of the Super Bowl, on Sunday. The Grey Cup. This is the only day in the last decade that I will cheer for the Edmonton Eskimos!

Three down football on a field 110 yards long, 65 yards wide, 20 yard end zones.

Worthless without pics.

...deemed relatively spouse/job-friendly by myself. There are better pictures. Ahem.

Proof that not all fakes are bad!

Dunno about that. I'm still betting she'd look better with an unpolished case and lugs....

Its tricky because the owner was left it by her late husband and is hoping the sale will get her enough for some necessary house repairs.
I'll have to tell her it would not buy her a tin of paint. Hence tricky!

Anyway I resent the foul slur with regards to Ms Anderson's mammary attractions. She was a film actress, and surely Hollywood would never liar or cheat .

I can relate - it's never an easy thing to tell someone that an item they think or hope is worth a lot of money is worth nothing. In comparison it's very easy to do it anonymously on a forum where you are not standing face to face with someone, and I think that allows people here to be a bit more blunt than they would be in real life (at least I hope so).

I am faced with this on a fairly regular basis, the last one being a somewhat similar situation to yours. A lady was given a Rolex (cough...cough...) by her husband when he abandoned the family and told her to sell it and use it for child support. It was brought to me by a friend of a friend who asked it if had any value. Of course zero value and I could tell that from 10 feet away, but like you I wanted to be 100% sure so I did look into it more. Cheap Japanese quartz movement inside, and I even had the "diamonds" on the dial tested by a friend who is a jeweler just in case by some miracle they might be real and be worth $5 each...

Morally you need to tell the truth of course, so there's nothing tricky about that decision, but actually doing it can be tricky certainly...

Cheers, Al

Thanks Al. As you say, easy to "advise" anonymously.

However, I did possibly react over tenderly to puerile accusation, so all toys are now back in the pram.

As it happens, all is sorted.

You're assuming she does a lot of standing up? (I'll let myself out :whipped: )
Hahaha
