The Rolex Datejust is a stone cold classic. Especially the reference 1601, with its pie pan dial and 18k white gold bezel. This is a staple in a lot of collections, and for very good reason. When you’re talking about a 1972 example, it’s so rare to find it other than watch only, so very happy to offer up this one, not only is it the lesser seen no lume variation, but it comes with its original inner box, outer cardboard box (these almost NEVER survive!) both hang tags, dealer pamphlet AND on what I believe to be its original date-stamped Rolex jubilee bracelet!

REFERENCE: 1601

DATE: 1972

SERIAL NUMBER: 3,08X,XXX

DIAL: This is a very clean dial - that silver sunburst pie pan dial doing exactly what it should: popping beautifully! A few light marks here or there, mostly edge wear common to these, but really fantastic for a 51 year old watch! The no lume examples are such a clean look - same with the original no lume hands, in nice shape with a little bit of patina. And of course that awesome open 6 and 9 datewheel!

CASE: Great 36mm stainless case, with thick even lugs. Wear throughout, as you’d expect, but all in beautiful, including that staple, the solid 18k white gold bezel! Bezel has a bit of wear and patina forming as well, but presents beautifully too.

CRYSTAL: Plexi crystal is in great shape with only light marks.

MOVEMENT: Iconic Rolex cal 1570 automatic movement working very well (1972 is when they started hacking - great to have!) winding and setting perfectly with date changing sharply. Service history unknown but timegrapher’s showing 13 seconds a day with a 236 amplitude.

Movement pics (rear gasket was replaced after pics with a fresh gasket)

BRACELET: Comes on what I believe is its original folded link Rolex jubilee bracelet, with stamped 55 endlinks and cofrect 1972 stamped clasp. Light wear as expected, mostly on the clasp, but overall in great shape with better than average stretch for its age, as pictured, especially for a large vintage jubilee, as this one will fit up to just over a 7.75 inch wrist.

ACCESSORIES: Watch and jubilee bracelet complete with original inner Rolex box, outer Rolex, cardboard box (of course has light age related wear but so cool to find!) two Rolex hang tags including the original serialized tag, and a pamphlet from the original dealer!

PRICE: $3895 which will include 2 day fully insured shipping anywhere in the US through FedEx. A face-to-face deal in the Los Angeles area is always possible, with a small discount offered.

PAYMENT: Via Venmo friends & family, Zelle, or Wise

Sale only, no trades thanks

RETURNS: No returns unless misrepresented, and it absolutely will not be. I am a passionate watch collector and lover first and foremost, and I treat buyers the way I wanna be treated when I’m the buyer. Lots of feedback to show that!

Thanks for checking out this iconic Rolex set - and as always, thanks to OF for the space!

Nice no-lume example; typical for Japan, which did not allow even tritium lume.

What a beautifully presented sales post. Good luck with sale.

I think this should be a sticky post in a “how to make a sales post” thread.

Really appreciate the kind words! I try and list watches the way I want to see watches listed when I’m the buyer!
Lots of love and offers but no firm deal yet, so still available!

I really love this advert, and it's making me consider buying, but I've had a few beers, so if I feel the same way tomorrow I'll make an offer. 👍

Can you share a little history of the watch - did you buy it from a collector, or is it something which has been in your family?

Maybe you could share some history of the beers you've been drinking. 🙄

If you are a serious buyer, send the seller a PM.

Can you write me a poem about this watch? It's beautiful!

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
This watch is now on hold…
Wooo hoo?
