Hi guys, I have for sale a have for sale a real stunner: a 1975 Rolex Datejust ref.1601 with a very rare matte black pie pan "Sigma" dial in flawless condition, a solid case and excellent white gold fluted bezel. The pie-pan dial has crisp white text, lume dots and hands are a perfect match with a nice patina, and the elusive "Sigma" at the botton, signifying that the watch has solid gold hour markers, makes it an absolute favorite amongst collectors. But the most fascinating part of the watch is the dial color: the black turned to a beautiful matte dark grey and it changes in appearance with every twist of the arm; in the sun the dark grey is bright, while when you get into the evening light it becomes a gorgeous deep dark black. Serial dates back to 1975. The watch is original in every parts and runs well keeping good time. A Sigma dial is a Rolex dial named for the letters printed at the 6 o'clock position of the dial. Most Rolex dials are commonly marked with “T Swiss T,” under the 6 o'clock marker, however, a Sigma dial is marked “σ T SWISS T σ.” These small Sigma symbols are most often associated with watches produced in the 1970s, it was an effort by the Swiss watch industry trade association, l’Association pour la Promotion Industrielle de l'Or (APRIOR), to emphasize the value of Swiss watches using any gold material and the ‘Sigma’ dial has become more famous and sought-after for its appearance on Daytona and Patek Philippe Nautilus CASE: Even and thick case. Serial and reference number are fully visible. Original 1601 caseback. BEZEL: Fluted white gold bezel in excellent condition. DIAL: The dial is an original and rare pie-pan matte tritium 'sigma' dial with applied white gold 'baton' indexes in superb condition, with a fantastic patina and crisp white text. The very attractive black dial colored dark matte grey over the years and it's breathtaking in various lights, it casts from black to a muted grey. The hands are tritium and match perfectly to the dial. Tritium is original and was checked with UVA light. Dial shows no chips around the rehault and no scratches. BRACELET: The bracelet is the original 62510H with 555 endings in very good condition with all the links. The clasp is original to the watch and the code (A) matches the year of production. GLASS: The crystal on the watch is the original 1601 tropic crystal. MOVEMENT: Correct 1570 caliber running well. Original "open 6" data disc.
