After repairing a couple of accutrons decided to have a go at an f300.
Below are before and after shots . I used a parts or repair allegro for an index wheel and resonator. The allegro dial looks to good to chuck so will now have to find a zenith case. It never stops does it

Same here. Bought one for parts, and not able to let it sit in a drawer, bought next. And so on ...

Looking good!
Thank you.
Took it into work the other day as some of the other 'watch guys' wanted to see it in the flesh.
Needless to say, another friend has called dibs on it already.
The wife was egging me on to get another a few days back... Does this lunacy end?

I believe that means she wants to wear one too, and no, it doesn't.

Great thread . Have a F300 seamaster that the date isn't working properly on. I have bought metal date disc before. But now i can't find them anywhere. Anyone now if they still are available somewhere.

I am not sure there is another source for the metal wheels, hence me name checking Paul who had a batch made. He must have sourced them somewhere so perhaps they can be found for self fitting, I dimly remember mention of a source in Germany, but I could be mistaken.

I love these, but see a lot of them on ebay described as "not working". I read through the link to Electricwatches above, and it looks like there are some pretty common problems with these watches. Would you consider them a risky buy that could break down frequently? Or are they pretty reliable with a few outliers?
A bit late but a little trick told to me by a tuning fork expert that sees a lot of non working f300's come back to life especially if you see an energiser battery in the movement. Personally of the three non working parts or repair movements I purchased two went immediately albiet one needed a new index wheel.
Over the years the energiser 344 battery has got flatter in the centre section ( negative) which in turn will not operate some more worn f300's. By using a Renata battery that has the older profile of a raised centre ( negative) there is a likely hood the movement will start. Sometimes a little tap will help as the movement will most surely need a service. The energiser is on the right

Early models (Ref. 196.001) are only labeled f300 without anything else. The same it is with "official certified chronometers".

Omega played fast and loose with the labelling on many of the hummers. Other that the specialist Seamaster diver models and Speedsonics, most have identical specs, 30m water resistance etc so the dial label is kind of irrelevant. That is to say a steel Connie hummer is likely no better built than a Geneve, Seamaster, De Ville or even unlabelled. The movements are all the same, either 1250 or 1260 so differences are slight, mainly limited to case and dial materials
