Some of the grid positions were the result of the weather, Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny with a 19 C temp. Expect things to settle down and revert to what we've previously seen.
There’s also one Ferrari at the back, and Perez way back after that qualifying so there’s a chance at least for Fernando to do well, the Alpine is very quick in a straight line which will make it hard to catch even with DRS on this track
Not SUPER new news, but a little more confirmation perhaps in the whole Audi/Porsche thing...

I always understood that to be JUST VW. Not everything else under the umbrella as well.
I really hope this will not happen, EVER.
Why you may ask?
Quote from VW in 2019..
"Volkswagen will end its factory support of all programmes using internal combustion engines after implementing a motorsport strategy focused on electric mobility."
It’s everything under their VW umbrella (Ducati will eventually leave MotoGP as well). It’s a strategic rolling withdrawal to lessen the impact of all VAG teams leaving their respective sport.
Given the context, I think “internal combustion engine” is specifically referring to “petrol/gasoline ICEs” that produces greenhouse gas emissions.
In the past couple of years, biofuels and hydrogen technology have become a big player in the future of fuels and this gives them the option when looking beyond electric engines. Because let’s face it, electric engines are great for road cars but are boring in motor sports (eg. Formula E). Porsche has already announced that they’re developing synthetic fuels for their lineup of cars (source).
There’s little detail about the 2026 F1 engine formula but rumors are that Audi/VW participated in the engine discussions. This tells me that if they’re committed to joining the F1 grid, the engine technology will benefit VAGs road cars while holding to their mission of a 0 emission standards.
I really hope this will not happen, EVER.
