I so hope this is "RED" year!! after all this time I cant say it loud...
I actually do too and I’m not even a Ferrari fan the drivers are just so good and worthy.

But I’m acutely aware that this is Ferrari we’re talking about here…

So it’s entirely plausible that they will introduce an aero upgrade that sends them backwards 6 tenths, or they start having engines explode, or they completely ruin the strategy of both cars repeatedly, or they redesign their wheel nuts and find they get stuck every pit stop, or both drivers get covid and they replace them with the worst potato drivers they can find, or the factory goes on strike, or Leclerc decides to retire mid season and live out his days in a monastery in Nepal.

Just watched the race on delay (and thankfully managed to avoid any spoilers prior 👍.)

Happy to see Max DNF. Talented as hell, but sorry, I just don't like the guy.
Happier to see Mercedes' improved finishes & points.
Happiest to see Ferrari take the win.

Leclerc drove a dominant and nearly flawless race. It is still early in the season but he is clearly the front runner in the championship.

Verstappen drove well enough until his car expired. You have to finish races to score points and Red Bull's uncharacteristically poor reliability this year is shocking compared to last year. They have lost 48 points in the constructor's championship.

It was nice to see eight different constructors in the points in Melbourne. As it stands now Aston Martin is the only team that hasn't scored this season.

Aston really don’t deserve points after that effort, it was a bad performance even by GP2 standards but their mechanics were amazing.

hahhahaha, oh yes...first sentence is all....we talk about Ferrari here😀

my first season of watching F1 was 1995. I did seen some races in 1993 ad 94 but first full was 95. I didnt had some favorites until Italy GP 1995...and after It I know, Ferrari will be my team...why? well I was 15y old kid then and I wasso sorry for such an unfortunate team.

if somebody else remember, in middle of race, in GP Italy, Ferrari was 1-2 at one moment. everything was perfect....Alesi was first and 1 sec behind him was Berger, 1-2 for Ferrari, Italy GP, crowd is crazy, everything is perfect....until, some part felt of Alesi car (it was camera or something, I cant remember right) and that part hits Bergers car and he needed to quit race. Then few laps before end, Alesi needed to retire because some engine problem.

from then until now...nothing can surprise me...😀 it is Ferrari!

ps. there are also some happy moments...shiiiiii about it😀 not now..haha

I was never a big Ferrari fan but luckily my distaste for Max and Horner outweigh everything I dislike about Ferrari.

Also, my company became a Ferrari sponsor this year so I can't root against them like I used to.

I see Toto is sticking the boot into Masi again re last year’s finale. He makes some valid points https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...or-masi-was-liability-to-f1-and-disrespectful however I thought this exchange was interesting:

‘Wolff also revealed he had appealed to Masi in the week before the race to adopt a more open-handed approach to developing his role. “I had lunch with him on the Wednesday before the race,” he said. “I said to him: ‘I really want to tell you, without patronising you, that you need to take criticism on board and develop from there. Lewis does it every day but you are a guy who always seems to know better.’ It wasn’t about influencing him but really giving my honest feedback that he shouldn’t block outside opinion as simply being wrong.” ‘

It seems that Masi took the criticism ‘on board’, then thought ‘Screw you!’ when the opportunity arose 😁

you have controlled your fear.

Essere Ferrari! 3 great races! unlucky for Sainz, a mix of luck during Q3 and a mistake in the race cost him and the team points.

I hope that they don't blunder things like they did with Alonso and to some extent Vettel, although Vettel was just as much to blame with his unforced errors. If the car remains solid and Leclerc keeps his composure under pressure once one or two of the other teams start to catch up, I think this can be our year after 15 years 😀

Ferrari gets 10% more wind tunnel time vs Mercedes and 5% more time vs Red Bull. Catching up will be difficult.

I think that resets at the midway point.

Who do you guys think will take out the wooden spoon this year? I’m thinking a tight competition between Aston and Williams that may end with Seb hanging up his helmet…

Aston Martin. I have never thought of Vettel as a driver who could get a car into results it did not deserve. I do see some capability in Alex Albon though. Their team-mates are, ahem, unproven and not really in it.

I thought that the Williams calculation on strategy was brilliant on Sunday. That counts in their favour too.

I like Vettel as a person but I cannot figure out why they don't let him go? he's occupying an expensive seat for no good reason while others more deserving are being held back &/or not given a chance.
Same deal with Daniel R (err. Darren!) -- he talks too much & performs very little.
Yuki -- same deal. He hardly helps out Pierre G. Sometimes his results are better than Pierre's.
Latifi - he needs to go. He's got a life-time supply of Red Bull so he can take his charge elsewhere.

watching the entire 2021 season & 2022 so far, the above dead-weight comes to mind..........

Sebastian brings a lot of experience and probably ensures the support of many of the sponsors. He was a big pal of Bernie too, that might still have a resonance.

I like Danny Ric, but his "last of the late brakers" overtakes take a lot of confidence in the car, and he hasn't built that up yet.

Tsunoda is still new, and it probably takes 3 or 4 years for the true level of talent to show while racing at the tail end of the grid.

I guess the same applies to Latifi but he's not shown any "wow!" talent yet.

Meanwhile may I draw your attention to the position of second in the Drivers' Championship 👍 👍 👍

yeah, I figured Vettel makes the sponsors feel good.
Same deal with new Chinese driver -- only reason he got a spot was that he brought a huge amount of $.
I feel Piastri & the Merc Formula E champ deserved a chance but there's too much politics & too much $$$$ involved. So, very often the seat is not on purely merit.
yeah, George-y with his slick hair-cut -- indeed he is telling everyone if gets a good car that can compete, he can compete with the best. So far he is delivering. better results than the 7-timer!
the other driver with sneaky good talent is Sainz. I think he had a bonaza year in 2021.
