Esteban: I'm faster than Alonso

Checo: Let's go. Who's next?

Max: Is he complaining about something or what?

James Vowles: Valteri it's James. Please abort the fastest lap attempt before the end of the lap.

Valteri: I was just playing around really

Lewis: I need that extra point guys!

Mick: He wants to be in front of me at any cost

I hope Russell understands the implications of this race. It is Hamilton’s team and nobody else’s. At least Ferrari is honest when they have team orders.

Slightly different to telling a drivers team mate to back off.
Perez was 9th at the time so that cost RB 2 pts to save Max 1 pt. RB did more to help Max that race.

I think it really is whoever is in the lead of the championship at the midpoint. Alonso had to learn that in 2007, Seb had to learn that against leclerc, if Mercedes can win as much or more at a fraction of the salary and with a 15 year career ahead of George they won’t squander that

Mercedes made a gamble, albeit a small one, to have Hamilton score one point at the expense of Bottas. This was not a pass on the track, where the risk is minimal. The team gained nothing from Hamilton’s last stop.

Considering Bottas is nowhere near competing for the WDC, it would be stupid to have him take the point off of Lewis.

Also what is George going to do? It’s not like he’s going to turn down an offer to drive for Mercedes just because the team isn’t built around him.

I still remember the last pit stop Bottas had in Monaco is all I’m saying.

Note to Zandvoort: next time, instead of spending $$$$ on banking some corners, spend it on widening parts of the track so overtaking is possible 😉 (I fell asleep halfway through, but at least I didn’t miss anything).

Having said that, it does look like a track you’d have great fun driving around. And, as a friend of mine suggested, the Netherlands should replace the red in their flag with orange...

Russell going to mercedes now? It's a mistake.
I was hoping for Nyck de Vries, instead of Russell if you really had to decide.

Alex Albon will prolly take the Williams seat?

Multi year contract at ferrari's junior team
So that's 3 or 5 years?

Good for Valtteri to finally get a multiyear deal instead of a bunch of 1 year deals with an option for 1 more. That had to be tough to constantly being asked about where you're going to drive next year because he didn't have a guarantee longer than 1 year.

You have to wonder if Mercedes had expressed some actual confidence in him rather than stringing him along like that would he have been able to relax into the role and rise more to the occasion. Sainz, Ricciardo and other drivers on a similar level to Bottas were given that courtesy and they could have always just had a performance clause to protest them if he really didn’t perform.

I get why they did the 1 year with the option for a 2nd year once George got into F1 since he is the future of the team but the initial deal really should've been a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd year to express more confidence in him.

Bottas got shafted. Bad luck for him. Another Driver like Massa or Barricello that have the skill to get a World Championship but timing screwed them.

George is an investment into the future, and a loyal driver who was invaluable to MB’s success gets the short end of the stick.

And Albon back in F1 w/ Williams.
Nice, I quite liked Albon I think he has some real talent but that second Red Bull is a trial by fire few could survive.

So now there should be only two seats up for grabs or yet to be confirmed, Gio's at Alfa Romeo opposite Bottas, and Lance Stroll at Aston Martin. For the latter one would imagine Lance's seat is a done deal indefinitely unless his dad stops loving him at some point or the Aston Martin board decides to put results ahead of nepotism.
