Just thought this was a bit funny.
“Aston Martin sponsor BWT want to bring a pink colour scheme back to the car because it “doesn’t stand out on TV” and the car’s “recognition would be higher”

“If the Aston Martin was pink, title sponsor Cognizant would also be happier because the recognition value would be much higher.”

“Business-wise, it was wrong. Historically, the British racing green is certainly understandable for many, but not for me. The Aston Martin doesn’t stand out on TV.”

I do get the green AM and black Mercedes mixed up sometimes. The color contrast isn't always easy to pick up on TV.

It's not hard to tell them apart, really. One is at the front and one is at the back lol.

Jokes aside, yes, I agree with you.

There have been a few times where I'm like wtf happened to Bottas, how did he lose so many places? Then I realize it's the AM.

May I suggest a subscription to the F1 live-timing app? As well as making clear who is where in the race it allows a look at the mid-field battles that the TV directors tend to ignore. At about 1 Cowrie-Shell per race it's a bargain IMO. Lots more info there too, tyre usage, relative performance, track position, etc.

Congrats to Red Bull for their strategy. I think it is pretty clear that Bottas will be replaced by Russell, maybe sooner rather than later. Bottas isn't going to get the same support as Hamilton at this point. Dead man walking.

There's a lot of rumours about him being replaced by Rusell, but I think Bottas will get 1 more season.
Mercedes say it's Hamilton choice who he wants to have as a teammate next year.

Needless to say, if he get replaced he will prolly get a seat somewhere else.

Verstappen better have the best lap time this weekend, lost my bet on him last weekend 😜

I hope they slot Russell in, hell they’ve got Vandoorne on their books too and frankly he could even be a better option at this point, or Hulk. I’m just not seeing anything promising from Bottas at this point at all, he’s looking like a defeated man and if he got a seat elsewhere I see it only at Williams or the like.

F1 again tonight, triple headers are awesome 😁

Triple headers are great, but I fear a repeat of last weekend’s rather boring race. Can’t they do a reverse grid just for the fun of it? I’d love to see Mazepin on the front row, being chased down by the rest of the grid with guaranteed carnage to follow 😲

Incidentally, I’m looking forward to the race at the updated Zandvoort. I slept in the sand dunes when I was there in the 80s (though I recall more of the local swimming pool with mixed showers than the race itself 😉), but it was great fun all round. The circuit now has some banked corners which could prove interesting, see below (from 8:53):

Keep in mind we do have the sprint race for qualifying this time around, first time its been done. I don’t think the quali order will shake up much especially since there wont be pit stops but they’ll all be on relatively low fuel and soft new tires from a standing start which is not something they’re used to and could be interesting. I can see first lap predators like Alonso doing very well and liking the format a great deal.

Probably the case as long as they win both championships. If Mercedes doesn't win at least one championship, I can see them booting Bottas.

Yea ultimately while Lewis is definitely an important cog in that team Perez is just too good in the 2nd Red Bull to ignore, they would be remiss in their duty as a team if they allowed their lead driver to put a potato in the second seat so he didn’t have to face a challenge.

I wonder how ironclad Alonso’s contract is for 2022 at Renault… that would be quite the firework show and entertainment

I’m relatively new to F1 so can anyone explain the amount of hate directed at Hamilton? Seems like a pretty chill guy - Max on the other hand, seems a bit cocky and lacking of charisma.

In the early days there was some serious racial hatred towards Hamilton at some tracks and in some countries, fans dressed up as monkeys in the stands and so on which was a sad stain on the sport. After he won his first world championship that died down a bit but since then Hamilton has not hesitated to speak up for causes he believes in whether that been eating a plant based diet, or political issues like climate change or issues of racial equality. Him entering political debates stirred a lot of anger and hatred online as there are many who like gasoline burning cars, meat and find his stances contrary to their views that follow F1 along with a tendency towards an older demographic. That said, he’s a 7 time world champion and arguably the single most talented racing driver in all of human history so he built the platform he speaks from with his own ability and grumpy old blokes on facebook really can’t do much to shut him up.

Max I think is a bit misunderstood to some extent, the Dutch have a unique sense of humor and blunt honesty that maybe comes across as brash and cocky but they also tend to have this self-deprecating non-egotistical nature that I’ve always tended to appreciate and in a way I find them to be the most Australian like of all Europeans. I think that might be why Danny Ric always did have such good chemistry with Max even when things were tense as they both knew where they stood with each other.

Thanks for that detailed response! Shame to hear about Hamilton - he truly is a talented driver and class act. Interesting perspective on Max.

I have been looking forward to the races this season. It might be Max’s year.

Yep, they do appear to get on well 😀

Pretty much what Dsio typed. Being a black man in a sport that is predominately white while bringing his political views that tend to go against a lot of his detractors was always going to rile them up.

There's no way Mercedes would ever bring in Alonso to the team regardless who the other driver is.

Russell really did a good job at his debut with Mercedes in Sakhir. Shame with the tyre punction at the end.
I'm sure he will do good, if he get the chance next year.

Well, maybe Bottas will steal Mazespin or Latifi seat. 😉
