McLarens up to their old tricks again. Stealing secrets from Ferrari and now paint schemes from Ford :whipped:.

Porsche and McLaren ran Gulf colors as early as 1971 for McLaren in Can Am. They then ran it again on the dominating F1 GTR at Lemans.

But I see your humor :) I’m a stickler for details.

The asking price for this sort of stuff really is crazy. Surprising how many apparently adult, rational people will pay it - and then usually look a bit daft as over-colourful walking billboards; but at least with this range there's liberal use of grey, so my 'over-colourful' jibe's not so justified in this instance. The liveries from which the clothes designs are derived are not so easy to 'read' as an aesthetic entity on the current cars. Compare with the distinctiveness of the Lotus 49/72 with Gold Leaf/JPS, the JWAE Porsche 917 with Gulf, Jordan 191 with 7Up and Alfa Romeo 182/183T with Marlboro.

I’m not one to buy team kit, however, I did pick this up at the beginning of the year. I have a soft spot for this green though haha

    Nice race my Max.

Nice to the Gulf colors on the podium.

    Massive shank by Merc.

I finally got around to watching the Monaco GP. Congratulations to VER for winning the procession around Monaco.

Other than the usual first lap tussle, it was a fairly boring race. Of course SkyTV cut away from the only semi-exciting part of the race, just as VET was attempting to pass GAS. ::facepalm1::

HAM's inability to pass GAS left him in a foul mood.

I really think they should drop Monaco from the F1 rotation. I get the history of the race, and that the surrounds look interesting on the TV, but with overtaking so difficult the excitement is very limited (unless it rains). I watched parts of the race, and for me the most exciting moment by far was when the mechanics realized they couldn't get Bottas's wheel off!

Toto now saying it was partly Bottas's fault for not stopping in the correct position. The mechanic can adjust his arm a couple of centimeters to get the gun on correctly. I'm not the biggest Bottas fan but blaming him for this is a huge reach.

C'mon Toto, give me a break.

With respect, you are very, very wrong! Just the grid scene alone, building up to the start, is more interesting and entertaining than many a whole race weekend at a Tilke circuit, or indeed anywhere east of the Osterreichring, (I know I'm suppose to reference the 'Red Bull Ring' nowadays, but . . .) A championship should reflect abilities over a range of competitive situations - Monaco especially tests things like really sustained high concentration, patience, precision etc which have differing defining parameters at other venues.

This. Monaco is a different beast compared to other tracks. Being an F1 driver is by no stretch of the imagination “easy” but with the entire gamut of driver aides and loose definition of track limits, it’s really refreshing to race at a circuit that has zero forgiveness. This circuit really pushes and tests the drivers abilities, and if the driver lapses for a split second, the entire field can change. I know it’s not the most entertaining to watch… but it deserves a place in the calendar.

It was enough to get Mercedes out of the front so it was a pretty good race IMO lol.

FIA really needs to step in and do something. The guy is a danger to himself and other drivers if he can't handle changing a setting on the steering wheel while driving.

If someone starts something with “with respect” it usually means that their meaning is the opposite. I’m not wrong or right, and neither are you. That was my opinion, and the above is your opinion...and differing opinions are just fine to coexist as far as I’m concerned. My opinion is that the race on Sunday was boring, and not for the first time at Monaco. But what you say is perfectly valid as well...it’s just not something I find exciting to watch.
