Very sad news, and very sad for the family, along with thousands of others ,are unlikely to get the burials they deserve.

With luck a proper memorial service can be held at some point in the future and people can come together to celebrate his achievements.

A great driver, one of the very best, rest in peace Sir Stirling.

I think SAI could be a strong contender for the seat. Lets not forget the massive curveball that could be HAM though, as he's always been keen on winning a 3rd championship in another constructor and well, how long has FER been eyeballing him?

Sainz is a good driver, but I really hope they go for either Ricciardo or Hamilton. If they are really keen on handing the whole team over to Leclerc, they should go with Sainz. But a Hamilton move would not only raise their level but also harm the best team on the grid...

I only found this the other day, but has everyone seen the Sir Patrick Stewart meeting Sir Stirling Moss doc? Stewart basically meeting one of his heros from childhood, is quite touching. Think its on iPlayer currently.

It is not surprising VET departure from Ferrari. He did not deliver the championship so it is time to go. He wasn't able to live up to the expectation. I think deep inside he is also relieved. LEC is the future of Ferrari.
I hope HAM stays where he is today but RIC would be interesting to see in the red car.

Haaaaaa, no one plumping for VER? Would be too much VER and LEC in the same garage, but does beg the question - when will VER move for a quicker car?

I think moving a 'big' name like HAM or VER in would upset their 'LEC is the future' plan. It was bad enough when VET was there. That's why I think the Mercedes thing works with BOT knowing his place.

This is quite possibly going to be the best silly season ever.
BOT is out of contract too?
So could this be the big reshuffle to promote RUS to Merc? BOT to REN if RIC moves to FER?
    Over to you Cotton.

Why would Mercedes let Bottas go? Hamilton is happy with him there and he can be relied on to get a top 4 position most races.

If Hamilton goes (unlikely imo) then all bets are off and Russell might get a seat.

It will be interesting to see where everyone ends up in 2021...
Both Hamilton and Bottas' contracts are up at the end of the year but I really don't see either of them going anywhere.
Danny Ric, could make a move that would open up a seat for Seb. Also Sainz could make the move.
Verstappen is probably happy at RedBull, and even though Vettel has quite the relationship with them, I don't see him trying to go back given all that RedBull has invested in Verstappen.
A Sainz/Vettel swap seems to make sense. But who knows...

Lewis will want to keep Bottas as he knows that Bottas is an ideal No 2, if you start putting racier drivers in the Merc then there is a chance that titles could be lost as the drivers get too competitive, it is easier for teams to manage a No 1 and a No 2, two No 1 drivers doesn't always help the team.

My guess is that Ric will go to Ferrari leaving an opening for A N Other to step into the vacant Renault seat, no other changes.

Speaking to El Mundo, Alonso said: “I know more or less what I’m going to do in 2021, I hope you will know soon, but I can’t say more,”
