He won 15 out of 20 races in his first F3 season, total domination, then was the GP2 champion the next year. He then had his first season in F1 and out performed the multi championship winning Alonso and almost took the F1 crown, but yeah anyone could probably do that with a bit of coaching. Er no they couldn’t.
In both cases he was driving for the previous years winning team. He was signed by F1 world champion Mclaren in 1998. He was 13 at the time. Tough to say he struggled with anything but superior equipment for most of his career.

If you look at his karting career it was anything but privileged. and GP2 is a very even playing field with regard to equipment.
Regardless I only judge drivers on their performance on track, and Hamilton and Verstappen are heads and shoulder above other drivers, but their personalities grate with many.

If you think they pay Ham £40 million to do a job anyone from Rye House go kart track can do then they must be fools in F1

Safe to say Hamilton is a polarizing figure.

While most everyone would agree on his talent, his actions when he's not behind the wheel are not to everyone's liking.

I lost all respect for the guy when he jumped on his scooter to confront the stewards during the red flag at Monza.

I would love to see these guys go for it at the Formula Ford festival at Brands Hatch, all in identical cars. That’d sort out the men from the boys 😉

How about just an old skool kart race?

The FF races aren’t that dissimilar to carting, though I’d want to be well clear of Grosjean 😲

I would expect it to go fully electric within 5 years to stay relevant.
And with an expensive deal with Formula E CEO Agag who holds the FIA rights to all electric racing.
ICE will be like steam engines by then.

The only thing that ties F1 to ICE is sponsorship from petroleum companies, and like Mission Winnow’s(stealthy advertising for tobacco)deal with Ferrari, it will be grasping at straws, it’s the dark side of F1

If F1 goes electric, I'm out.

Trying to watch an electric race on TV is ridiculous. The audio is all jabbering from the commentators. Obviously you can see the cars, but without hearing them it's just a Sunday drive through the countryside.

Would FE even have the technology to run a race distance on an F1 track? The current cars would be pretty much out of power after like 5 laps if they went at F1 speeds. I can't see batteries becoming that good in 5 years but who knows.

That is exactly why formula E does not run on F1 tracks. The difference in speed woul be painfully obvious.

I am really wondering what RedBull will come up with to keep racing competitively. Renault wont be looking for a partnership. Mercedes does not want to let the competition be real competition. Ferrari is nothing to write home about at the moment..

I am pretty sure RBR will outperform Renault even if they decide to use their engine. First because engine manufacturer are now obliged to provide the same material to customers, then because of the new "1 engine map per track" regulation, and also because they will have 4 cars to get engine data from, where Renault will have only 2...

and GP2 is a very even playing field with regard to equipment.
Not really... You had to pay a bit extra to have the good engines and the good tyres. And having Dad running the Ferrari team and providing info about how to use the tyres was a big help too.

Anyway, it doest not change the fact that Hamilton is one of the very best

"Missed Apex understands that Horner and Marko are in Austria to meet with Mateschitz. the aim of the meeting is to get a sign off on the finance to buy the Honda engine IP Talk of it being badged as Mugen who are already based in Milton Keynes"

A Mugen comeback would be cool!
