Very sad to see the end of the Williams family racing era, Frank and Claire brought a different side to the paddock . Writing was on the wall when they mortgaged the car collection, interesting to hear VET may have bought one.

Great Q today. Mercedes really doesn’t give a shit about the rest of the field and getting or giving a tow.

Did anyone else see this?

I played it back and took a photo of my computer screen lol!

Are you saying F1 is prescient or fixed? 😉

Human but anyone as of late can kinda figure how events will unfold... I don’t blame em for already having that made 😉 (all said in jest). Nice use of prescient btw.

Haaaaaa, I thought at first it was a CGI banner but nope.
Thought SAI drove a belter, VET has checked out completely, did he do any interviews or media after Q1? Or just watch the rest of quali.
And when will Haas finally move on the sudden 'spare' drivers floating around that would improve their fortunes almost immediately?

Really happy for everyone that made the podium. Seems like Mercedes is only on the ball when they’re battling Ferrari or RB. They’re asleep at the wheel when it’s any other team.

Congrats to the people who put a small bet on him.
Bookies had him at 2000-1 apparently 😵‍💫

Congratulations to Gasly on the win. It’s nice to see some different faces on the podium.

I didn’t realize that this was the first win by a team other than Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull since the 2013 Australian GP. It is also the first podium without any of those three teams since the Hungarian GP in 2012.

That was an awesome race.

As a bonus we got to watch Hamilton hopping on his razor to go whine to the stewards.

So, if we kick Mercedes out of F1 for being spoilsports and ruining the racing, will we get awesome racing like today's Italian GP every time?

Such a good race!

Anyone else notice Renault basically ceasing to exist (in name/total sponsorship) for 2021?

Alpine have been part of Renault, and particularly Renault's racing success at Le Mans, since 1973. More connection than Aston Martin have with their new team ....

Well given the fact that they were .8 seconds faster in qualifying trim and like 1.5 seconds faster on the restart in race trim, it would be hard not to have much better racing without the biggest baddest team in the sport.

Ferrari is now 6th in the constructors after Renault's solid showing and Alpha Tauri not too far behind at 14 pts back.

This much I know, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be a shared Alpine-Renault Racing name like Aston Martin Redbull Racing. With Renault being a publicly traded company and the F1 team underperforming for several years, I wonder if they were under pressure and selling the title sponsor/name was the only way they could still remain in F1, but at a lesser stake.

Alpine is a wholly owned part of Renault just the way AMG is of Mercedes (who are really Daimler-Benz) or Infinity are of Honda. If a corporation wants to raise the profile of their lesser known models then this is what they do. I do not see how that saves money. Perhaps it helps hide it from the internal bean-counters though.
