I was hoping for inverse grids.

Not sure how I am viewing this season's championship, I get the feeling that it is all about money not the sport, racing behind closed doors seems a bit barmy but if the sport doesn't want to lose sponsorship money they have to race.

Where circuits are having back to back race weekends it would have been good to make the second race different or even the whole season different, try out a few different things, see what works and what doesn't and what could be implemented for future championships.

It would be interesting if they did the circuit in the opposite direction for the second race. It would make the drivers have to learn the circuit over and create more of a challenge....maybe.

Its a mess of a season so why not try a few different things, going round the track the other way is a good idea.

It would be a lot of work for the circuit. For example exits through the barriers for emergency vehicles would be the wrong way round and present quite a hazard to the racers. Trackside lights (yellow, red, green signals not as Singapore) -- are they bi-directional? Anyway they say these guys can learn a circuit in a bare handful of laps.

Agree, there are alot of tracks that it is just not safe to run backwards. A Driving coach died a few years ago when a track day ran the track backwards when it was not at all set up to do to.

Look at Laguna Seca.

If you run it backwards, the front straight has no runoff, turn 10 is very dangerous with no runoff. Reverse corkscrew entrance has no runoff Back straight into turn 6 has the same problem.. etc..

Big Willow could run the other way... It's normally a clockwise track, but I think a small change as you would normally exit the Omega (marked turn 4)
and it would be ok.

Spa looks like a nightmare in reverse esp at Eau Rouge and La Source and the Bus Stop...

For Austria, it would apparently mean an investment deep in the 8 figures to run the circuit the other way round - and that’s not even taking into account the short time span of only a couple of days between the races.

As impossible as it is - it sure would be interesting. Eau Rouge, for example, the wrong way round, arriving there after the long backstraight... wow.

Was that the one at Disney Speedway in 2015?

Thankfully I have not seen it. The backlash does highlight how far society has to go and how much racism bubbles unseen under the surface.

I follow Lewis on FB and the hate he is getting blows my mind. I had higher hopes for F1 fans.
I have to say that back when Lewis entered the sport, I was more interested in it, and I was a big fan, but he lost me over the years.

Don’t just pull the race card on the backlash now. I’m completely shocked with F1 atm.
I can understand the crap going on in American now but F1 always meant to stay out of such politics.
There was certain nation not so long ago that was on the nose big time (human rights etc) yet F1 still competed with a no comment in that country including all the drivers.

I’ve seen a lot of subtle racism against Lewis since I started watching even from the press.
Also note F1 ( well Bernie at the time ) is not doing anything. It’s MB that is. Also Alotnof teams where against Bahrain but Bernie made it impossible to avoid.

and the back lash on his Facebook has been clearly racist. Multiple slurs, n-word, go back to Africa, you should feel lucky blacks can’t drive etc.

It’s horrible.

Apologies if that’s the racism people are commenting on, I’ve not visited any social media platforms to do with F1 etc.
My concern is the air around all this, anyone who speaks opposite to the crazy mobs atm and the media’s like “get him he’s a racist”....
I don’t want that in F1 and firmly believe that should be kept out of all sport.
Sport itself brings the world together without getting involved with any of the politics.
Like science, I’m a physicist I’ve travelled the world as such and I love the science community for its lack of boarders, lack of politics, within the pure research community.
Having said that actual racism has no place in F1 action should be taken if any such occurs.

If only that were true...

The upside of this thread is that it has got me excited to watch the racing this weekend. We'll see how long that lasts!
