Er, why all the sudden noise about VET and MERC? He going to drive for free? Silly season in its dying throws I'm guessing.

Is there any more noise than there has been in the last week?
Anything concrete aside from just speculation?
I just don't EVER see that happening...
I think ALO coming back in 2021 with Renault is far more likely than VET to Mercedes lol.
But I'm still skeptical of that as well...

Vet will not go to Merc. There is no way he and Ham will be on the same team.

due to this Vet will retire and disappear. Never knowing in his mind if his success was just due to Adrian Newey’s cars. Granted he out performed Mark Weber, who is far from a bad driver. I think Vet is broken, and driving for anyone but a top team is not an option and he will not be fixed.

OK, not 2020, but I've been doing more reading about older stuff.

    Here's a quiz:

    What (c'mon -- easy)
    Where (not at all hard)
    Who (I didn't know this :( )

BTW, Glurgle image search doesn't find it -- I checked :p

    4 / 4

The car is an Eagle-Weslake, made by All American Racers (in England), owned by Dan Gurney. The surprise was that Scarfiotti was supposed to be driving for Ferrari but good 'ole Enzo wanted to put pressure on him and didn't give Scarfiotti a car for the Monza race. Gurney let him drive the Eagle because the Weslake engine was very new and they wanted more testing for it.

Yes, very nostalgic, but sad to think of Dan, not long gone. Rye is near where I live and it's always intrigued me that California racers like Dan and Carroll found themselves with a European base is such a backwater, (delightful little town though it is!) Of course they were there to be near Harry Weslake's place and it was a fruitful partnership. I never saw the Eagle Grand Prix car in the flesh, but a friend who did, said it was beautifully made.

I think Len Terry's workshop was in the same area and the first Eagles were constructed there. Terry had designed the Eagle F1 and the Indy winning Lotus 38.

I watched Dan and Bruce McLaren drive Eagles in the 1967 British GP at Silverstone. Didn't get into the paddock to look at the cars though, I was at Club corner.

Before they finally and completely messed up the Silverstone circuit layout, I always used to spend some time at Club, especially during Practice/Qualifying. It was a corner that in the days of less trick technology really showed up the difference between good and bad cars. In the '90s for instance I remember it being very salutary to see just how much sooner a McLaren driver could get his throttle back open after the apex than could the poor unfortunate in a Pacific or Simtek.

Meanwhile, here's Graham demonstrating the challenge of Club, especially in a car not exactly au point. The demands of the corner were such that it's no wonder the usually jovial, (and decidedly masculine), Hill is suffering with PMT!

This cropped up in my feed today, not sure if it’s been posted before, but it’s an interesting infographic video...

Is it a normal race weekend schedule-wise?
Practice on Friday and so on...?

The app says Practice 1 and 2 on the Friday, P3 and Quali on the Saturday and then Race Sunday. Looks like it will be the same format as pre COVID.
