Hi All,
I made an enquiry last week for a particular piece of historic information and also asked if they had an update on when the extract from the archives service would be restarting. The answer I got didn’t seem have the same optimism for a 2024 return as the reply above and more simply said “….this vintage service is currently not available, and the date for its resumption remains undetermined”, with the same suggestion to keep an eye on their website and socials. Not sure if that means a 2024 resumption is running into some delays or just mixed messaging.

This sucks... it is taking quite long. I wonder how long the queue will be when they open it again...

Previously, there were some rumors about resuming this service in April. Now we have October, so I'm wondering whether they will even plan to resume it in the future or leave it closed.

I went to the OB on 5th ave NYC 2 weeks ago and had my 166.073 on me .
I was speaking with the staff about it and mentioned that i want to get an extract for it but can’t .
then he said i can order an extract through the boutique , I'll need to give them the watch and they will send it to Switzerland for an inspection and remove the dial in the process ? ... and the watch will be back with an extract .

I didn’t do it because i won’t be again in NYC probably for years so i wouldn’t be able to pick it up when it comes back .

but this sounds like a load of crap , when i mentioned to him that omega offered an extract by only the serial number he didn’t know such a thing existed .

Heres an email i got from Omega after contacting about the extract in March
If the extract service is available through OB then i would expect it to be mentioned in this email .

It sounds like the OB in NYC describing the process of the Certificate of Authenticity that Omega offers. Though I’m not sure if the currently offer that service similar to the EoA situation. I thought about turning one of my watches over to my local OB for the Certification but upon finding out the price, I decided to pass as the cost of the certification was a significant portion of the value of the watch and didn’t seem to necessary for my enjoyment of the watch.

It does sounds like he was describing the CoA but he also mentioned that it will come with details on the watch history so i really don’t know 🤷‍♂️
I really don't need an CoA , just need the extract

In the past, how far back would the Extract or Archives cover?
I've just inherited a pocket watch which I believe to be from the 1930s, and I was wondering if the Extract would have covered that in the first place?

I suppose it's safe to assume the service isn't coming back this year 😢

Doesn't look promising for the EOA program...

If I was Omega I would never reinstitute the extract
Given what was alleged to have happened within the Omega Vintage Restoration Department, I would be surprised if it ever came back.

Exactly, what upside is there for Omega? To satisfy a few collectors that want to know when their watch was made and where sold, versus abuse of the system by people with bad intentions? Omega should fold the extract tent and say, 'That's All Folks'.
