I started an excel sheet collecting info about Centenaires(and I will expand it to 3000 line at least) and I noticed a curiosity.

I found this Centenaire 71 in a watch dealers website

It has an engraving for 25 years of service in Jan 5 1958. Its case number is 5204958(and movement serial number 5472888)

However according to published eterna serial numbers tables the case would be made in 1965(and movement in 1967) which is of course consistent with the general design of this watch(stick hands instead of dauphine)

How do you explain it; Is it possible that the company awarded this man the watch in 1967 for 25 years of service completed in January 1958, 9 years later after the fact;

I have the same Centennaire 71 model in a gray blue dial. Definitely not a 50s watch

I see now that it’s not the identical model but very close.

That's a good looking watch, what size is it?
it is 40mm , also extremely rare, it has one of the best crown and bezel action I have ever tried in my life , very accurate .

I may have to keep on the lookout for one. I like modern Eterna but I haven't found one I really like well enough to own. I had one of those KonTiki 1973 dive watches that I wanted to love; everything about it was right, but the size. At 45mm it was just so much larger than my vintage watches that it was uncomfortable to wear. It didn't fit nicely under a shirt cuff and compared to my next largest watch it felt like wearing a pie plate.

Initially, it is an Eterna Super Kontiki, but Gübelin changed some little details 😉

So, it is a Eterna Gübelin Super Kontiki PTX 130 with Gübelin-matic movement 🤣
You even can see the Eterna sign inside crystal.
It is from 1966.

Nice special tool watch....
