The photos are not good, but it's a -71 and I can't see the step on the dial. [Edit: Correction, I found a photo that definitely show a step.]
I once was looking for birth year watches but didn't like the fact that I would have had to almost certainly compromise on quality unless I got lucky. So, I started viewing birth year holistically. A watch purchased in X year was not necessarily manufactured in that year! Could have been sitting on the shelf. Heck, if my dad had purchased me a watch when I was 6 and called it my birth year I would have been none the wiser. And, let's face it, my dad DIDN'T purchase a birth year watch for me so some of the connection is tenuous at best. TLDR I'd find the best example possible +/- 5 years. Just me!
I see a lot of people really into the whole birth year watch and that is perfectly fine but for me the less I have around to date myself the better I can keep my age denial going. If I did own a birth year watch I’d trade it for a newer one and make that my birth year watch
