Hello @MtV @michael e or anyone else that can please help with a crown question. These watches are with a watchmaker with thin decagonal crowns I've provided, but the watchmaker is insisting that ref 14393 did not have this crown. I was ready to dig out material and insist that it did, but looking at the attached again (which I got from Michael's post here https://omegaforums.net/threads/crown-glass-gasket-list.81619/) I'm confused.

The older 14393 is showing with crown #42055 (BF 1664) - i.e. the one I have on the watch, and the younger 14900 has crown #42004 (BF 1080) - i.e. the thin decagonal.

I thought initially the 14393 was just showing the later service replacement in this list but if so, why wouldn't the 14900 also be showing with that service replacement?

The watchmaker is saying to fit the supplied crown, i.e. the thin decagonal, they will need to cut the stem shorter 😵‍💫

The 14393 came with different crowns from the factory IIRC. I do not know what measurements your stem has, but a stem is easily replaced and I've had multiple watches that came with stems that were of different sizes than what I'd expect was original - not really a big deal to me. Hard to judge from the distance but generally, if it means fitting the correct crown, I would never rule out the fitting of a different stem.

Your watchmaker is wrong.
The correct standard crown for the 14381/14393 is the thin decagonal.
They also are seen frequently with the thin scalloped crown.
Likewise the early doglegs but less frequently seen with the thin scalloped crown.

Both have the same knurled replacement crown.

The 42055 crown is a replacement for the now obsolete 42004 crown (thin decagonal). I suspect this list is misprinted as the 14900 should show the same crown type as the 14381, 14393 and 14902.
It’s likely your stem will need cutting slightly as the 42004 has a protrusion that sits further inside the watch case. My watchmaker had to do the same when fitting a couple of 4204 crowns on my watches.

Are there any stems that don't need a bit of cutting for the 50s/60s Connies? 😁

Got my new toys back 😁

Overall very happy. The replacement glass I sourced for the 14393 didn’t work out so that’s a generic crystal. There is an area of discolouration on the 14900 dial and there is slight spotting on the 14393 but pretty hard to make out unless looking for it!

Both very pleasing to wear!

Is this expected? I initially thought it was a chip in the bezel above the bottom left lug, but it’s too regular. Then I thought it might be in the wrong position snd should be behind the crown but there’s similar there too 😕
