Buying donor watches for parts and then deciding to rehab the donor watches completely - which necessitated buying more donor watches for parts. ::facepalm1::

Oh, and buying a $10,000 JLC to celebrate having a kidney stone removed. I’m pretty sure that narcotic pain medication and anesthesia played a role in that decision. Nice watch though! ::facepalm1::::facepalm1::::facepalm1::
Haven’t experienced a kidney stone yet but numerous people have reported to me they experienced pain they never realized existed trying to pass those. You may very well have earned that watch if you went though what those people told me.

It was absolute misery and an experience that I hope never to repeat. After trying to pass it for a week, I had to have it removed under general anesthesia, then have a stent inserted, then later have that removed. Took a month for me to begin to feel normal again.

I did take a TAG Aquaracer Chrono on a single dive last trip last spring just to get a wristie. I should have known better because it was already up for a service due to low amplitude, and I had my doubts about a pusher gasket. I should have wet tested it but was in a hurry to pack.

Well, during the surface interval, sure enough, I looked down at it and saw the slightest fogging in the inside of the crystal.

But that wasn't my best move. Years ago we used to take our old phones overseas to give to the locals (laptops as well). I had a Samsung Galaxy Five, in great working order and was going to give it to our divemaster at the end of the trip.

Yeah, I figured I'd just take it out on a dive to get some boat shots.

So we were in San Pedro and the site was named "Tackle Box" after the bar it was straight out from. A spur and groove formation we swam down, then through a nice swim-through in a spur and finally through a groove that was overgrown and out into deep water (about '90). Sure enough, right when we cleared the groove, I remembered the phone, still in my pocket.

Not much I could do with it at the moment, but when we got back in the boat, the deckhand popped the back off, rinsed it in the camera bucket and said to buy a pound of uncooked rice to put it in. We never were able to get it to light up but it did ding and you could see the boot graphics faintly. I'm sure that water got into the 300V power supply for the backlight and blew it out. The DM later told me that he replaced the screen for $90 and continued using it for several years.

Now as for the Aquaracer, it got taken apart that afternoon and everything rinsed in fresh water so there's no damage to the dial or hands. It even runs though the reverser is frozen. Yeah, it was up for a service anyway.

I can add one more to the list... playing the drums while wearing my Speedy FOIS. I normally take it off but this time I forgot. ::facepalm1::
I'll have to keep an eye on its timekeeping over the next few days and see if there's been any effect. Here's hoping that those NASA tests hold true.

This right here is why I got a Ball Watch with the SpringLOCK system, field tested as it were by Eric Singer of KISS. 😀 It's the only watch I wear to practice and jam out the metal tunes, well, that and my g-shock.. 😀

My dumbest thing, 100% when I inherited my great uncle's circa 1946 Omega CK 2414-2(very new to mechanical watches), I thought the crown was stuck when trying to wind it. Turned the crown with a good amount of force and snapped the main spring 😲. As I realized what I did I was pretty frustrated with myself and decided I better put the watch down. Put in near the edge of the couch cushion, got up to do somethings around the house, sat back down on the other side of the cushion forgetting the watch was there and it proceeded to fall onto the floor damaging the crown and snaping the winding stem......to put it mildly, it was not a great day for me and that watch 🤬 LOL.

Turns out when I took it into be serviced that the watchmaker told me that both items that I broke would have needed to been replaced anyways as it appeared that the watch hadn't been service in many years. Watch has since been serviced as is in great working order!

For any of you who are curious, here's a photo of the watch. Patina'd for sure but intentionally kept as original to the state in which inherited.

Put a JLC Reverso with BOR bracelet through the washing machine after having spilled coffee down me. Quickly removed the watch because the coffee was running down my arm. Onto my less expensive jeans. Into a jeans pocket went the watch, into the washing machine went JLC and jeans and shirt. Remembered all too late. Lovely clean watch - and still unpolished!!
