Same here. Only that it is a fitbit alta HR and that it is worn always on the right wrist.

Sleep tracking is incredible. Wanted to be able to do this for years in the past. Now this is helping me a lot.
I told my Doctor that I was always feeling tired. He sent me for blood work and a sleep study. Blood work showed I had low B12 (now on supplements) and sleep study showed I suffer from mild sleep apnea (now have CPAP machine that I use > 75% of the time). Interestingly, the sleep study involved a night with a lot of wires and breathing tube hooked up to me. The end result was a graph showing how much time I was in light, deep or REM sleep, as well as how many times I woke up. The cost must have been substantial considering the sleep laboratory (like a hotel), the lab technicians, the equipment, the analysis, etc. With my Fitbit, I get what appears to the exact same output every single night but from a simple device that cost ~$150 and requires only charging every 5 days... pretty good 'bang-for-the-buck'!

2 younger guys at work have joined here.

One from smart watches, now owns a Longines big eye diver re-issue and has another few vintage divers already

One from quartz, now owns a modern Railmaster and has a vintage Longines 8888
And who can we blame that for ?馃槤

I started getting back into watches due to the smart watch trend a few years back.
So yes OP Iam in complete aggreance with you.
I currently use a Withings HR Sport at night when I sleep as it tracks my sleep and is also a silent alarm for morning.
Without waking the whole family.
I also use it at the gym to track my workouts.

It has its use and I could not do without it, and did I mention the battery can last you a month without charging if you don鈥檛 do any workout regimes as that keeps the screen on at all times.

With workout input regimes on it will easily last 2 weeks. That鈥檚 awesome I think especially when it looks like a real watch.

Nope..as mentioned, I already hold my phone way to much. Another tech piece would make me even more confused. Laptop, ipad, smart phone, google home..Soon it feels like we wan't be able to pee unless some machine tell us it is time to do so.

Maybe I'm old school dude but no thanks. Although, I see some smart use for the smart watches, hairlike mydresser, when hands are tied 馃榾. He said he's less stressed since getting smart watch..

I was hunting for a dual time zone watch for when I head overseas for work and live in an awkward Timezone (Adelaide Australia) which precludes me from wearing any of the many awesome mechanical GMT watches on the market ... I bought a 3 movement Glycine Plaza Mayor Airman 5 ... actually traded wine for one but its huge and not really my style ... then found a 1980s quartz dual time (which I really like) before picking up an Alpinerx ... and as a completely unintended bonus (at time of purchase) ended up exercising ... and have dropped 15kgs in the process
I bought the Alpinea second hand mid November last year ... and really started tracking steps and distance covered when I took a couple of weeks leave in Jan this year ... 650kms covered in Jan and now 3360kms year to date ... with a goal of averaging a minimum 10kms per day across the course of each month ... which I have managed to do so far ... (with a biggest day of 50 kms)

So, perhaps counter intuitively, wearing and relying on some pretty lovely mechanical watches and feeling the need for a dual time watch for o鈥檚 work trips has been a gateway for me for wearing a smart watch...

I still wear and love my original tech watches often ... but find the dual time/ step tracking efficacy of the Alpinerx means I wear it more often than I wear anything else...

A few pics attached of both my my marvellous mechanical and ambulatory affirming beauties

As a side note ... a couple of months ago the AlpinerX developed an issue and I was initially quite annoyed that I has to send it back to Switzerland for repair under warranty (sheesh, I managed to have my Omega 125 repaired in Oz rather than Bienne, why not a smartwatch!) but was delighted with all of the following ... that it was fixed promptly ... I was not charged return freight, comms were really good and on return I received a brand new warranty card with the purchase date listed as the same date the repair was completed... exceptional customer service methinks...

Cheers

Matt
