Lots of very nice watches in this thread.... here’s a bump with a watch acquired a few months ago— just back from service. Thanks to @Tony C. and @bubba48 for the enablement and support 😉.

Grazie @bubba48, your approval is the ultimate reward when it comes to those. 😀

Oh my.... and as I am going through the thread again I’m realizing I failed to post one amazing Tissot here....:
the beautiful "Americas" enamel dialed golden watch that I know @Vitezi also saw on Instagram earlier today

..... which I have a suspicion is the same as the one I posted on Instagram during a visit to Rome last Spring. It has a map of the US states in gold enamel cloisonne. That being said after I posted it a Swiss dealer contacted me to tell me when he was much younger a batch of those were found NOS and outfitted to matching watches..... very cool nonetheless.
Enjoy. @ConElPueblo I’m realizing your post is from October. Was that watch exactly the one I posted back in May?

A supposedly military issued PR516 manual, just serviced (also new crown, tube, crystal, replaced pallet lever balance and bridge because most of the the escapement/balance was fubar, and I had to put the lower incabloc assembly back where it belonged... 🤨 some "watchmaker" got creative):

It has a "PAF" and broad arrow marking on the caseback, the Internet says it has been issued to the Pakistan Air Force. I wonder if anyone here has one, and knows something definitive about it? You can find one pictured on Flicker, one for sale somewhere on reddit, they come up from time to time on ebay... Had two of those, sold one, both were "barn find", grubby, worn out crowns and tubes, wrong but old crystals, matching patina... so I think they were not faked.

Interesting.
I don’t remember hearing of a « PAF » Tissot before, but who knows... in any event I would suggest posting on the Military Watch Ressource Forum, which is a place of reference for that kind of info.
It’s a nice looking watch.

This thread reminded me! Had seen this one on eBay about a month ago! Has a Masonic dial. I wondered whether it had been re-dialed since the font looked a bit different from what I’m used to seeing. But it actually looks similar to the font on that one with the map on the dial! (The “Automatic” font looks similar)

It sold for just over $1000 I think. 14k gold.

Yes - interesting to see model evolution when they merged with Omega.
Yachting model below had interchangeable parts such as the crystal which even had a small Omega logo engraved on the plexis surface.

Yes some nice watches on this thread! Could someone help me date and determine model of my Fathers watch. The family story (he is long gone) is that he bought it in Singapore for £10 pre WWII, in looking at other similar watches this does not totally stack up? Yes the hands have been changed by an over enthusiastic jeweller and the winder is not original – but I have it.

Skyjack thanks for the msg, I did delete the photos and then added them again larger as it looked like I had originally made them too small. Can you see them now - I can?

Yes, pic's are ok now.
My guess would be a 'well used' early 50ties bumper automatic; hands and crown are not original. The inner case back shows the reference; if you use google for the ref 6546-1 you will find more info for sure!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. You can determine the approximate date of manufacture with the serial number that is engraved on the movement. There are data tables available online to help you with this. The model (reference) number is seen on the inside caseback.

Your dial happens to use the same hour numeral font as the famous "Rear Window" watch shown here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/jimmy-stewarts-tissot-in-rear-window.60124/

If you are curious to know more, there are a couple of threads on this forum with bumpers from the same time period as your watch:

Nice thread.
I currently own a couple of them, both vintage: a bumper from 1953 and an antimagnetique.
I dream of a Navigator 🥰

Vitezi thanks for the info. Looks my Fathers watch dates from 1946. While somewhat a crude case design it is still a nice watch - will at some stage get the hands replaced with something more authentic and change the clown with the original. The very nice 40's and 50's Tissots on this thread make me want to look for an unused Sovereign or is this a no no!
