Hi all, Snagged this beauty on ebay a few months ago, and I just got it back from servicing today. Really happy with how it turned out. The seconds hand had broken off about halfway down the shaft, so I actually bought a similar model (in poor condition for cheap) and installed the seconds hand. It's longer than it should be, but at least it's a similar speartip hand from a period-appropriate model. I love these Tissot casebacks from the 50s! It's got radium-lumed dial markers and hour/minute hands. The movement appears to be a Cal. 28.5-21 from what I can make out from my poor quality movement pictures, with serial number dating it to 1953. They may not be the most valuable vintage watches, but I find their design to be very appealing and quintessentially 1940/50s! -J.
Sweet watch, and an uncommon dial variation! Tissot from this era typically represent very good value.
Vintage Tissot watches from the 40's to 60's are way undervalued. This is a beautiful example and has an exceptionally lovely dial. Congrats and wear it in great health!
I don't own any calipers, but when I measure with a ruler, happens to be 32 mm across, not counting the crown! Does seem to be a bit on the smaller side compared to my other Tissots! The lug width is 16 mm too, which is smaller than my other Tissots
Thank you all very much for the positive comments! Glad there are others on OF who appreciate Tissot! After test driving it for a few days, it's ticking strongly and keeping excellent time. Initially I thought the dial was a bit mechanical and plain, but it has definitely grown on me!
Lovely watch, I just recently picked up a 1950's Tissot and they are very nicely designed and constructed watches. And as others have said they also offer great value for money.
Lovely watch! I also got a Tissot bumper from 1953 recently, so undervalued models but really sweet and charming. Wear in good health, mine says hallo
Is it just me or does the case/dial configuration look very Polerouter-ish?(Though this one came earlier than the UG) I was asking about bumpers in the Open Forum and the kind people of OF clobbered me with mouth-watering pics; but this one I could take over any of them if I had the chance! Congratulations!
