As last year, December was an unexpected month.
Almost nothing all 2020, and suddenly this beauty from 1947 arise. No way to let it go !

That is stunning, congrats!

Is that a Dennison case?
Had a similar with Dennison made case:

Here’s a baby ladies Tissot— I find it very cute but the balance staff is broken.
Would gladly donate it to someone who has any interest - whether to keep or restore. It has a nice screwback steel case and a nice patina.
I don’t have shots inside unfortunately.

Looking for some expert advice on this Tissot T12 Visodate Seastar Automatic Diver?
I am a Tissot fan, own four Tissot watches, two modern and two vintage
I really think this is an attractive dial, so nice that I enquired if it was a redial and the seller said it is original
The seller indicated it is from 1969 - is that possible?
I have not seen one other vintage Tissot quite like it
The price is high enough that I don't want to jump without learning more from some of the Tissot experts here
If there are some questions I should be asking the seller ( another forum, not OF ) please let me know
Thanks

I'm no pro when it comes to Tissot but they are one of my favorite brands. This one obviously has been polished but a good job nonetheless and most oldies have had polishing done at some point. I can see why you are interested as she is a looker for sure! Hopefully an expert will chime in but I would bet the farm that is the original dial 👍

Pictures feel "too pretty" for me: they are carefully made to hide the various defects, the most obvious one being the repolished case. I can't really see anything, between lack of sharpness and overexposure, not even the shade and state of the lume plots. Typical dealer picture. So unless you can see it with your own eyes, I'd pass. T12s are big, and like Speedy mark IIs are often banged up: this one lost some edges by polishing.

EDIT: and the caseback gasket? Looks flat, I bet it has not even been changed (as usual with high priced watches), my pet peeve. You'd think that those gaskets are so costly, they must be left untouched.

A sharp 28.5 "bumper" that did not see much use. Some pitting of the staybrite case and corrosion on the hands, but it still feels "new". I even got an "EK-pat" matching Tissot buckle with it!

Looks extensively polished to me, nice looking from afar but I wouldn't pay a premium price for it that's for sure. Dial could well be original but with those photos its a impossible to tell.

Well thanks to you I got the dumb idea of checking out the T12s on ebay. So, a moment of weakness, a click on a blue BIN button for a semi affordable price, and now I'm waiting for this:

What got me on top of the case (no caseback gouging!) was the Tissot bracelet. I hope it will turn out OK in the end...

I could probably shave with the edges of the case if I don't wear this watch 😁

It was a very good buy, yay ::psy::

While trawling the web for interesting Tissot, I also found this one:

Regular boring seastar? Maybe, but look closer:
-n11 endlinks 😒
-nice BOR, very Omega-like, with a Tissot clasp
-onyx indexes?
-the case looks like a 166.010, the back may have had a shaved off seamonster?

A google and forum search produced nothing. It would be amazingly stupid to deface a seamaster case to produce a lower franken seastar (and sell it cheaply), the overall patina checks out, so it is probably original. Maybe a seastar made using unused seamaster hardware? Omega and Tissot were on the same boat after all. No view of the inside so I won't know what reference it is until I have it in a few weeks.

Not surprising, for example Tissot Navigator 45503 are using Omega 176.010 case.
For one of mine, Omega logo is not fully erased in the caseback and Omega logo is also in the middle of the crystal.

On the other way, Tissot movement 2481 is used by Omega as 1481 with copper plating.

That purple is the remnants of the sticker, yes? Just curious, since I purchased a Tissot with the same deal. The seller told me that acetone would remove it no problem. Did you try this as well, or are you leaving it there for a reason?

Recent acquisition. This one is a strange and wonderful Tissot-Meylan-Lemania collaboration. It's powered by a Lemania 872 and is in the EPSA 815 case, which makes it kissing cousin to the Lemania Viggen and SAAF military chronos (817 case) and Lemania 2310/Omega 321 powered Meylan chronos (815A). The Bezel is a Meylan, and the Stadium dial is the only purely Tissot aspect. I've never seen furniture like this (black-painted steel batons and long indices), which is reminiscent of Heuer Carreras from the same era. Also in NOS condition. I don't think it's ever been worn, given the remnants on the sticker at back and the pristine character of the lugs, bezel, etc. The only signs of age are a few smudges on the crystal, a small scratch on it at low 12, some paint flaking off the 10 and 8 indices, and the inevitable fading of the lume dots.
