Do you guys like the square dots on the edges of the dial?

I personally think Rolex have spoilt this otherwise good watch with the square dots. It appears to be a confused fusion between a modern and a more older conservative look. What do you all think of the new 39mm Oyster P?

The dots themselves don't bother me. It's the colours of the dots that are currently offered which bother me.

I don't mind the square dots, but to be honest, I am not a fan of any Oyster P, so they could be triangles and it wouldn't worry me. I think I can appreciate that they are much loved by some, but I just don't know what it is about that case and dial, but it looks bland to me. Grand Seiko bland. Volvo bland. It could be because I'm not much into elegance and wouldn't know the difference between bland and elegance if it bit me on the arse.

I'm not a big fan. TBH, I think it looks a bit cheap. Like a budget watch company trying to immitate Seiko.

Why is this in the Omega forum? Wouldn't the Rolex one be more appropriate?

Yes good point. The colours are off, something is wrong with that dial. Shame

I actually like the blue/green contrast. I will see myself out. 🤪

Fair enough if you like them.

Is the lead designer for this dial still employed by Rolex?

Good question. Depends on the sales figures I suppose.

But the rhodium grey with blue dots is a great combination.
Speedbird has done a nice write up about it in another thread. It is one good looking watch IMO.
Regards.

I think it's a ridiculous cheapening of what could be a very elegant dial on a very elegant watch. Leave the sporty colors for the Milgauss.

Rolex it seems has moved their designs to something that would look good for only 2-3 years before appearing dated, which is a shame.

The rhodium/blue dots combination is amazing. Not a huge fan of this color combination, but I think it's good to have variety.

As for the watch, this OP is everything RIGHT about a modern release:
-39mm brushed case in an era of oversized bling
-$6,000 price
-no date
-multiple color choices

I fully agree with Hodinkee, that this is among the very best watches money can buy at this price.
