Did Omega quietly kill off that new Railmaster? and has anyone got one?

I looked these up on the Omega website and they’re marked as no longer available for all versions, I’ve yet to ever see one on a person’s wrist or in a thread here, but I’m sure someone must have bought one at some point. Are they still available in other regions or have they been pulled?

In Germany this one is still available for purchase on the site, all other variants are unavailable so seems being pulled:

Both ugly....
Can’t say I disagree. But this was a fairly wide product line they launched only in the last couple of years or so, they put a decent amount of effort into it as a new take on the Railmaster but I genuinely can’t remember seeing a single owner, though I’ve seen them in display cases.

The 2000s Railmasters didn’t exactly do that well either, nor did the originals seem to fly off the shelves. Maybe the Railmaster line is just cursed or something.

The Trilogy RM is quite nice on the wrist but is likely the slowest seller out of those 3 it's true so perhaps there just isn't the recognition there that there is for the Seamaster and Speedmaster labels. It probably didn't help that when used by the military eg the Pakistani Airforce, often the RM branding was swapped for SM or whatever making the RM label rather redundant.

Might be in the name, I can imagine that 99.99% of the Omega watch buying public would understand the need to be the Master of the sea, or the Master of speed, but wouldn't have a clue why they needed to be the Master of the rail.

I guess the other issue it has was that the Aqua Terra was a really nice looking watch that was priced about the same and sitting in the same display case with a similar dial hands and bezel both in the 2000s and in the 2020s. But while the railmasters had more vintage inspired spartan dials, the AT’s had cool starburst dials and 3d dial furniture. It leaves the Railmaster just looking a little bit flat by comparison.

I have the 39mm version on the strap of the early Co-axial pictured at the bottom..
It was probably the best value for money high quality Swiss made watch available at the time.
It had everything one could want in a simple, easy to read 3 hander. IMO, it hasn't been beaten since in the Aqua Terra line👍
I'm actually wearing mine as I type😉
A great ETA 2892 based movement that wasn't too thick and it was reflected in the package.

The Aqua Terra pictured above was more expensive and is a more classy presentation as a daily with the date function and was at a higher price point.

I'm not a fan of the recent version.

I'd be happy to wear one of these, but not at the regular sale price. I think they are fun

That blue dial rail master is an excellent sports watch. In person it looked great esp if you were wearing a nice broken in pair of jeans.

They show as available to me in the USA. There are also plenty for sale on Chrono24.

I actually like the black ? dialled version, it certainly wouldn't do if we all liked the same things 👍

Interesting, I wonder if it’s just that the US has a lot of excess stock or perhaps it was more targeted to the US market or something. What you would expect if it were discontinued for being a slow seller is to see it dry up in Omega availability but be plentiful on chrono24 as the greys buy them at a fire sale price, which is what happened in the past to other watches like the Tintin and some of the other moonwatch LEs that nobody liked initially.

Interestingly enough, folks are buying the watch, but not from Omega and most definitely not at fire sale prices. Used ones going for $6720 and $6840.

Typically see these in the low 3s used on Reddit from time to time. I think they’re nice watches. The blue in particular really pops in person. Saw one on display at the KoP boutique near Philly a month or so ago. About a year ago I asked to see one at the Chicago boutique and the sales manager looked surprised and had to find one in the back. They also offered to me at a pretty nice discount. I ultimately passed on it.

If Omega strapped the watch to a maglev or railgun and proved that it could withstand its magnetic field, they might be able to put a modern twist on the name.

Maybe they are going to update them to the sandwich dial like the 300 heritage model.

This watch is the only aqua terra style watch without a date, which I like. I would prefer an aqua terra without a date but they do not seem interested in producing this watch at this time.
