Yay!! A Fortis in the environment for which it was actually made- not just timing parking meters
Notice the Chrono is actually running, too! ::psy::

Decent turnout expected. On Monday I will give our host an accurate number of attendees. Don’t look in this thread for a date and place. Send me a message. Photo from a EBay listing.

College basket weaving class project will be turned in for inspection.
Do you have the prerequisite “years of academy training”? If so, how many years [of academy training]? Many years [of academy training] will be beneficial regarding the outcome of the inspection. 👍

Here are some photos from our Detroit get together. Great fun with a nice group of people.

This guy had a 22 oz steak and three pieces of chocolate cake. His face looked different after two pieces… But he still had that third piece. I brought a leather tray that members signed. And it is off to the next GTG (mid Atlantic). Attendees there may sign it, and after that, who knows where it will end up?

Australia would be great. Jiminoz considered attending, by the way, but decided it was just a bit too far. And more watches… some nerd brought a UV light. It kept Mad Dog entertained like a laser dot with a cat. TV Constellations. And the menu. Some super Seikos. And a bunch of pocket watches. Very nice DaveK lanyards! A swatch! And in the tray you may spot the Ed White, Ranchero, a very special solid gold IWC heirloom, some amazing Omegas and a variety of other brands. No brands spelled with the letter “X” however.

Finally, @Bruce235 gave us a lesson on how to remove a stubborn caseback.

I am back home. Looking North at Detroit from Canada. Yes, that’s right, Windsor, Ontario can be called South Detroit.

It is a brave Canadian who would cross the border into the U S A with more than one watch. I tried that one time, crossing from Coutts Alberta into Sweetgrass Montana with a (then) modest collection. I was headed for an NAWCC regional in Portland, Ore. It took me 5 1/2 hours to convince an officious p _ _ _ k named Dennis that I was NOT smuggling fake Rolex watches, and I was NOT going to leave them with him, and have U S customs melt them! Never tried that again.

Two shady looking attendees in a nearby parking garage standing in front of a cake loving OF member’s vintage Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Would you buy a used watch from these guys!?! 😲

I sold most of my watches last year so the border crossing was simple. I only brought two. How about those pocket watches? Not bad!

Looks like a great time. I’ve never been there, but one of the writers from “Kentucky Fried Movie” seems like they never got to your gathering…

Glad you had a great time and I was grateful for the invitation. Glad I didn’t commit as I spent a few days in the hospital with the lingering long covid BS I have although it may have been interesting to pass out in that nice looking dessert. I had this all cleaned up and ready to show off

Looks like a great GTG, and also a very appealing leather pattern.
Are you making watch rolls out of that ? 😜
Also… dibs to the owner of what appears to be a Seamaster with ribbon dial? I missed a couple opportunities to get one unfortunately.

There was a ribbon dial with a nicely restored case. The pattern was for fun. Most of the pouches I made as GTG freebies were plain. But I had to make a special one for the Ranchero.

Did you seriously print that pattern on the leather yourself? It’s nice - and fun! 👍
