Dear eBay sellers, please stop calling all of your watches "chronographs".

It doesn't exactly irritate me, it rather makes me laugh when I see in the description

"NO TIME WASTERS!"

I can just picture the seller typing in those words, then leaning back with a glow of satisfaction as he says to himself: "There! That's fixed THEM good and proper!"

Yeah, right. They're going to read that and think, Gosh, I was going to bid on that but - I'm a time waster! He's sussed me out! Tarnation! Guess I'd best stay away from this here auction.

Dear eBay sellers, please no:
Sicura by Breitling (which have nothing to do with each other)!
At least Tudor has something to do with Rolex, or Wittnauer with Longines, but still no need to mention that, especially in the title. No average Joe searching for Rolex stumbling upon a Tudor is going to think "Wait, I’ll buy a Tudor instead! How jolly good!"
And Joe’s with just a tad bit than more than average expertise are going to search for Tudor anyway if that’s what they want.

Dear eBay sellers...

I don't want to see what the watch will look like on an amputated arm. 🙄

I don't need you to handle the watch with white gloves.

Speaking of, I just saw this in an eBay ad and just couldn't resist posting it!

It's such a cool watch, you need to wear gloves to touch it 😁

I actually do that.. and - fingers crossed - so far seems to have worked ok, with a high (still not 100% tho) success rate. Maybe if i state i've been on eBay for 15 years and I'm familiar with 99% of the tricks of the trade, it might scare SOME of scammers off.. unless they don't read it through, or confident they have a brilliant trick I'd not seen before. Or they're just stupid.
I don't lean back and glow of satisfaction because of that though, but my amazing pictures & description 😀

Wasnt sure where to put this, but this thread seems appropriate. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sarah-s-...716429?hash=item1a59eae6cd:g:MUgAAOSwsndbYJlu

A flame resistant, immune to elemental magic Cartier tank (just what I have always wanted), with the warning in the description of "Attention: Watch needs to be recharged daily by blood sacrifices to the almighty god Oom. caution: might contain traces of nuts and / or Mexican cheese".
Certainly a novel way of selling a watch.

As this thread is about the stupidity of eBay sellers, here's a good example of a current listed article. And a great example of stupidity illustrated by this non-modded picture... 😉

Please don't:

Describe a watch as 'working' if one of its (randomly allocated) hands has fallen off.

Dear eBay seller: What have you been doing for 50 years then?

Pic from listing: 🤮

Why bother? I was kinda bored, and this one is just so glaringly wrong and ugly. When I saw "mint" in title, I just ::facepalm1::

Quoting the seller
“The original dial in black in rare honey comb finish with gilt printing and very unusual rose gold applied hour markers and rose gold Alpha hands. This style of dial is extremely rare to find today and the hour markers are extremely rare and quite beautiful.”

Dear ebay sellers:
I don't care what your box of sh*% weighs. Show me some high res pictures of what's inside.

I've come to the conclusion that there is a very specific methodology to ebay sales box of watch lots. Makes sure to take several slightly out of focus pictures, and arrange the most interesting looking watches slightly hidden so you can't quite tell what is there. Makes sure to take them from at least 3 feet away so that any detail is lost. Under no circumstances do you display them individually - that's for sales of 15 watches or less only. Oh and all listed brands in the titles that are the least bit interesting will of course be ladies watches.
