Dear eBay sellers, stop listing all of your watches as recently serviced!

Ya know, 10yrs ago is recent if the watch is 50yrs old. 👍

Dear ebay sellers, I not going to buy anything from a listing that says "pictures coming soon."
What is the point of this practice?

What is the point of this practice?

I confess to doing this once or twice when I've last minute realised I have a £1 maximum final value fees about to expire.

Dear eBay schmucks,

Stop calling garden variety vintage watches (aka Seamaster DeVilles, Longines Admirals, etc.) "RARE" just because they're old.

Learn the real meaning of NOS / New Old Stock. It is NOT interchangeable with excellent condition.

While were on adjectives, "MINTY" describes toothpaste, not a watch.

Lastly, stop writing "NO RESERVE!!!" when you have a minimum bid that's near, or above, market price!

🫨 🤬

Sincerely,
ulackfocus
“Minty” pisses me off also.

It's a favorite among shady golf club peddlers on those forums as well. It's meaningless.

GolfWRX.com is probably the biggest golf forum on the internet. They have a BST (marketplace) there.

Stop posting expensive watches in a plastic bag with a thin piece of bubble wrap round the watch.

Dear eBay sellers, if you are going to list a Seamaster XVI for $28,995 with offers accepted you will shortly receive an offer of $2.89 from me.

Dear eBay sellers...

I don't want to see what the watch will look like on an amputated arm. 🙄

I don't need you to handle the watch with white gloves.

Speaking of, I just saw this in an eBay ad and just couldn't resist posting it!

Dear ebay sellers, please STOP:

Writing your descriptions in 40 point font so I have to scroll to read each line and be blinded by the 4 different bright colors you decided to use.

Taking pictures strategically to just hide the major defect and then not disclosing said defect...

Stating “I watched it for a few minutes and it runs perfectly”

...and Newsflash: If it has scratches and wear then it is not NOS

..and one for Ebay itself:

Not being able to filter out listings based on location...I do not want to see 50 listings of neon-colored crap from India, and will not trust authenticity from sellers in China.

I hate when they post just one picture, no movement, nothing. I don't know who would bid on something like that with price 3k€+. 🤨

Your E-Bay must be different then mine. I can filter for just sellers in the US or even N. America.

That's called key word sapmming. It's actually against eBay rules to do it.

Interestingly I once had an auction cancelled after it closed because of this. Except I wasn't keyword spamming - I was selling a Dynaco Dynakit Mark IV which was a 35 watt mono tube amp. In the auction title I had put "Like ST70" since it is exactly one half of an ST70 amp. After the auction was closed, and the bidder had paid me, ebay cancelled the auction and deleted the listing! I fought with them on it about how stupid that was, and still shipped the item to the seller. The only nice thing about it was that because they cancelled the auction I didn't have to pay them any final value fees on it 😝

My only choices for location are: Deutschland, Europa or Weltwide. So technically I can filter on location, but the choices are pretty restrictive.

That's the wankers reserve. 😁

As Nancy Reagan said, just say no

Stop trying to big up thoroughly nasty water-stained dials with weasel words like "lovely condition", "great looking patina" and "nice looking watch".
