Went to my AD whom had a model in and was holding it aside for me until I could come in and try it on over the weekend. I immediately loved the watch but didn't want to be too impulsive with a purchase. Unbeknownst to me, while I was chatting with the store manager, my wife walked over and paid for the watch right then and there! She told me it was her favorite Omega I have tried on and there was no way I was leaving without it.

The lume is impressive as well
You are one lucky man! That is actually a very nice photo you took of the watch as well! Congrats on the pickup!

I honestly didn't like the DSOM watches, pictures on the website were kinda meh and 44.25mm seemed too big.

A couple of weeks ago my AD called to tell me one was in and would I like to look at it, along with a Rolex I had expressed some interest in.

I walked out with the Apollo 8 with joy, it wears smaller than expected, and it’s just so different from anything else I own, simply beautiful

My OB managed to get me the deployant version of the strap. I have it on a short deployant clasp and on the last holes. Fits just perfect! Deployant seems thinner but could be my eyes. Still bolstered fine though!

I ordered one and I am waiting for the call from my OB to go and get it.
Did they give you any price break on it, or is it full-tilt retail?

Ordered standard length deployant clasp (0025CTZ002303) and strap (0032CUZ011562) from my Omega AD first week of July. Clasp came in from Omega to the AD quickly but the strap is on back order (forecasted 6-8 weeks). MSRP with no discount. Thanks @lustrousaurus for the photos of your deployant configuration! Wear it in good health.

I have not talked prices with them yet. They said it was a new item and it might take a little longer for them to get it. Still waiting for the call. Did you ordered one too? Do you know the price?

Nice!! I’m still waiting for OB to call me about my strap order as well.

$250 for strap and $410 for deployant. It’s money spent but I guess it can be subjective. I really like the Omega deployants ever since I got the Snoopy strap for my ST1.

Does the strap taper to 18mm or so like the buckle version or is it bigger at the bottom?

I looked at a regular DSOTM earlier this year at the San Antonio Boutique when I was getting a DP buckle and strap for my CK2998, I just casually asked if there was any possible price consideration and I got the soup Nazi treatment, "No discount for you!". I wasn't that serious at the time so I just filed that info and moved on. I drop in every couple of months just to see what's new but haven't bought anything else from them at that location. I have a firm order in for the 50th at the St. Louis boutique when I was there in March.

When I was in Australia in February the boutique showed me an Apollo 8 that was already reserved for someone else. I was favorably impressed with it. But the supply here in the US was pretty limited with people waiting on supply, then someone mentioned a couple of weeks ago that it seemed that you could order it off the Omega website. About 10 days ago I was just browsing around on their site and sure enough, it indicated that the Apollo 8 could be added to your basket. I dropped it in there to see if it would take it, it did, and I also discovered I already had an account set up with name and address already in their system. H'mm. In a weak moment I put in my AMEX card number and it said, "Congratulations on your new Omega". Anyway, it was delivered at no charge to my door two days later by FedEx, the easiest watch purchase I ever made. You are also able to return it within 14 days with a full refund if you don't like it. Paid full MSRP ($9,750), of course, and sales tax, so that was why I asked if the boutique in San Antonio gave you any price break. I suspect they won't, but you never know, especially if you are an established customer.

It's a cool watch, certainly different from any other Speedmaster. I still think it should come with a DP buckle standard but that would push it over $10,000 and maybe they felt that was just going to make it too expensive for the market. Speedmaster's have never been that accurate in my experience, but over six days I'm showing +1 sec deviation on the Apollo 8. Maybe it's just a well regulated example.

Agree it would have been better supplied with the deployant strap and buckle option at same price. Beautiful watch. Wear it in good health!

I am a regular customer there. I have done service on several vintage pieces and got 3 watches from them. A Seamaster Commander, the Apollo 8 and the 50th anniversary. They have never offered me any discount on the services or on the price of the watches but I only have bought pieces that are different and not really discounted every where else so I don’t have a problem with that. I really enjoy going in there and talk about watches with all the staff. They are attentive and always keep me in mind if there is an event or something new going.

Awesome. Congratulations. Enjoy it. Its a lovely watch and mine is surprisingly accurate too (albeit I gave up timing watches a while ago).

Great story and fantastic pick up! Glad to see the on-line purchase process was efficient and painless. Enjoy!!

I drop in every so often to an AD near our weekend cabin and have purchased several LEs from him over the years. I got an email from him a couple of weeks ago saying he had just received an Apollo 8 DSOTM and asking if I was interested. I have a deposit in on the Apollo 11 and really had not budgeted for another watch, so I replied that I would like to see it when I got over that way, but not to hold it if someone else wanted it.
Last week, I stopped in and the Apollo 8 was still there. I had seen a regular DSOTM at our local OB and was not taken with it, so I was really surprised at how much I liked the A8. As they say, it spoke to me, and I walked out with it.
It’s had 100% wrist time since then and I like it more and more. It is one cool looking watch!

Nice pickup! I’ve been avoiding going to try one of these on, I’ve a feeling it would end in another purchase.
