When I ordered mine last year in March, one of the sales people in my OB mentioned that they told him that the first batch was going to be 2k units. He make it sound that that would be the amount produce every year. Now I don’t know if the pieces that we are seeing around are from this batch or a second one.

I was also told that there would be 2000 made each year. I don't believe there was a full batch of 2000 in 2018, so in my eyes they would have made 2000 for 2018 and 2019 together.

Hi all

Just to let you know I have now managed to put up a small review of the Apollo 8 with some pictures in the Omega Review section here on the forum.

How do you find the ceramic case?
My concern was it chipping?
I do think that this watch is amazing.

Hi stuart70

So far no issues with the ceramic case at all other than it being really light and I just love the look of it with both the polished and brushed finishes. As I pointed out in my review I have now added it to my home insurance here in the UK so not only is it covered for loss or theft but also for accidental damage. Having said that I really can't think of a time that I have accidentally walked into or hit a hard surface with any of my other watches so hope that continues to be the case. I have also never dropped a watch whilst trying to take it off or put it on so hope that continues as well but I suppose anything can happen hence adding it to my insurance policy.

This - as with many things, if you are careful you will be fine.

I take mine off away from hard floors for example.

The case itself is fabulous and very well done.

Based on some of my Keystone Cops-like treatment of my DSOTM, there's a good chance you'll be fine even if you're not careful!

Ha ha - yes. I’m trying to be careful but I have a feeling it’s as tough as old boots really

Thank you all.
It is nice to hear from someone in the real world.

I love the idea and the look of this speedy but it actually looks a bit hard to tell the time. The yellow second hand dominates a bit but I’m sure it’s easier in real life than the photos.

The overall concept and execution is gorgeous though. I’m not actually a huge speedy fan, 3 Seamasters for me, but his has me very tempted.

Honestly mate, I’ve had no problems at all. In fact compared to the ck2998 it’s clear as day.

Honestly, no issues.

In fact look at Stufflers post 5 or so on the thread. That’s what it’s like. Pretty easy.

Thank you, good to know. Sometimes pictures are to flat. I took a look a few YouTube videos and it’s drool worthy.

One of the other threads showed the Omega OEM deployant version of the strap and the titanium/ceramic clasp. Checked in with my AD on both the strap and the clasp. Clasp is of course used on other ceramic models and is readily available. Strap is back ordered with fulfillment 6-8 weeks out. Photos copied from other thread.

The concern about possible chipping of a ceramic case is way overblown. How many sapphire crystals have you broken, they are far more susceptible to taking a direct hit when on the wrist. I know I've never broken one. In normal use you should have no concerns about chipping a ceramic case. Wear it and enjoy it, it'll always look the same.

For anybody trying to find one, Tourneau had one on display at Pentagon City Mall in Arlington, VA.

Went to my AD whom had a model in and was holding it aside for me until I could come in and try it on over the weekend. I immediately loved the watch but didn't want to be too impulsive with a purchase. Unbeknownst to me, while I was chatting with the store manager, my wife walked over and paid for the watch right then and there! She told me it was her favorite Omega I have tried on and there was no way I was leaving without it.

The lume is impressive as well
