I doubt it, if your patient you should be able to get one from an AD, some have mentioned a 10% discount too.

Yes, 17k is somewhat optimistic. I suspect a discount is more likely but I doubt it currently.

Most are listed for a small premium so I guess about flat is where they will trade for now.

It’s a lovely watch however.

That is like 18% off. How can they do it. I was talking with an OB and they were saying that even ADs are not supposed to discount the watches and if they get caught by Omega they could loose their license.

If anyone is looking for one there is one sitting in the Omega section of Watches of Switzerland in SOHO - at least as of yesterday.

I’m sure they can sell it for whatever they want, or combined with store/loyalty/other discount, not a random “wanna buy a watch?” discount. I don’t think it’s terribly uncommon if there’s an established relationship based on multiple previous purchases.

Yes indeed they can sell. I normally get 20% discount from AD and get an invoice accordingly. Only Speedy Tuesday editions were paid on retail price as they were booked online at Omega website.

It's called an MSRP for a reason, it's a Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price. The industry knows this, and as long as it is not a pervasive activity by a dealer or widely known to the public they aren't going to get upset if a dealer sells a hot model at a discount to a good customer. Boutiques and ADs in the Caribbean will normally discount 15% right away, and maybe a bit more on slower selling models.

There will even be a few Apollo 11s sold at a favorable price to selected customers, we just won't hear about it.

Hi all

I think this is a really nice watch so had a quick look at how much they were selling for on Chrono 24 much to my surprise there is one for sale by a private seller from the UK for £17,000 nearly twice as much as most of them are. I know they are nice and hard to come by but that did shock me I wonder if he will get anywhere near his asking price so soon after release.

Marc

That's ridiculous. They're trying their luck. I'd hold out and see how supply goes with ADs. It seems like more are being given to ADs across the country in the UK from what I've seen online.

Congrats to all who got this lovely watch. The only thing I don't understand is why Omega went for a partly skeletonized dial instead of using that awesome moon surface all over... Those steel movement parts just stick out too much.

That was my thought too, I don't like peek-a-boo dials. It would have been more compelling with solid dial, but still an interesting iteration in the lineup.

I must admit, I am one of those people who were not very excited after the Apollo 11 SS was revealed. I just didn't see it in my collection. The one watch that did catch my eye was the white Seamaster, but other than that, nothing appealed to me. I was wanting to get my deposit back but chose to put that towards an Apollo 8. I saw it once before but passed. This time was different. If I ever wanted one I don't think I could find it any cheaper than retail, so I felt like it was meant to be. I think this will be one of the last "Speedy" purchases for me. I can only share it here because the lady doesn't know yet. I'll let her know after I pay it off in 18 months 😀

I love mine!!. The good thing about my lady is that I can be wearing this watch, my Hulk or one of my Seikos SKX and she does not see any difference.

Hi all

I posted this in the other Apollo 8 threads but thought it is relevant to this thread to.

Hi all,

I managed to pick one up just under a week ago now but still haven't got round to doing a review due to how much pain I am in currently. But I would mention that when I first looked for one there were over 15 on Chrono 24 and they were all over retail by around 20% there aren't as many listed any longer but still all over retail by about the same amount. There are also just 3 currently on E-Bay UK the cheapest being £8500 and the other two at £9,826 and one of those is used and both from the USA.

From what I have been lead to believe these are not being produced in great numbers and my Omega Boutique are not sure how many if any are still going to come which could mean they become a bit of a dark horse and very limited and may well hold their value better then some DSOTM models have in the past. I have no interest in selling mine and feel lucky I was able to find one and get it without any difficulty, so if you find one and want one I wouldn't hesitate plus if you can get a discount I would say your doing really well to get it at a reduced cost.

My lady is eagle eyed. Couldn't sneak it by her and pass it off as an old watch lol

That's one of the main reasons I picked one up last night. I checked eBay and they were a little above retail. I wonder if they will ever release how many are/were produced. My OB says they are often sold immediately after they come in, I guess there is a local list of people who want it. I was lucky enough to see one a few months ago but also lucky to walk in yesterday and get my second change at one.

When I ordered mine last year in March, one of the sales people in my OB mentioned that they told him that the first batch was going to be 2k units. He make it sound that that would be the amount produce every year. Now I don’t know if the pieces that we are seeing around are from this batch or a second one.
