If you could get one daily wearer speedmaster, which one would it be? I’ve gotten one vote for a 3570 Moonwatch, the ones that were delivered in the smaller boxes, before they began getting delivered in the big boxes with the loupes, etc.

The newer ones with the big box can be had for almost the same prices, and they have a slightly upgraded bracelet (screws vs pins/collars). That's what I went for and I'm very happy with mine!

A completely unimportant, unremarkable, uncollectible model- probably within the last decade or so. Just as quality as any other Speedmaster but you won’t cry if you slam it into a brick wall.

This is true. When I bought my 16750 GMT, it was just an old Rolex...and was cheap- and have worn it as a daily beater for 18 years....who knew.

True enough. If you bury a modern Speedmaster in a time capsule and dig it up 50 years from now its status will have changed from common everyday Speedy to rare, iconic, desired collectible. Once the big boxes go out of production watch the box itself go through the roof. Its just the times we live in.

I love the look of nice golden orange Patina hands and markers, my dilemma was:
    - every nice original dial I found had a high price to go with it, and then I wouldn’t want to wear it daily
    - every vintage dial that hsd been relumed had a lower price yet seemed too high given no longer original
    - every modern watch lacked any of the visual appeal as I don’t like the clinical white

My solution was to have a cheap modern dial relumed by James Hyman. I then found a case and movement, had my watchmaker fully service and assemble the watch, added a modern 1171 bracelet and voila, a gorgeous daily wearable that I don’t have to worry about...

There’s a reason mine is wearing a new crystal and service bezel (original put away).... they take a lickin’ but man can they look haggard.

That is another thought- most of the impact of daily wear on these is to the crystal and bezel- why not get a Speedy you love, make sure it’s serviced with new seals, and mount a service bezel (if you are anal about original crystal put on a service crystal and store the original).

True, repair parts for modern Speedies are for the most part readily available - now break your skeleton while on the ramp, and is going to be a challenge to find repairs parts for your year model :p

I daily my 3570.50. Great watch! Im gonna wear it 30-40 years then pass it down to my boys. Good time to pick one up because the 1861 will be discontinued in favor of the 3861 (speculation).

Any Speedy is perfect for a daily wearer. This is mine. It’s not perfect, but perfect for me to wear 7 days a week, every week of the year.

Until recently I wore my 76 145.022 daily for many years. No problem. I did then buy a lovely 3950.50 as a daily substitute but someone made me an offer I could not refuse on that one.
Now wear a fully serviced and pressure tested 1970 mark ii most days. Again with no issues.
If I had to pick a new daily Moonwatch I think it would be a tritium 3950/3750.
    Good luck in your search.
