Finally got the call: my Rio Seamaster is at the AD, back from service.
March 13 to August 12—pretty much 5 months on the nose. A regular (non-warranty) service on a basic time & date co-axial movement. Long time to be without a watch, but looking forward to having it back.
And I've bought two in the meantime, a hesalite 3861 and a NTTD so maybe they plan for that........
One or two more and they should be sending the watchmaker to your house 🙂
I sent in my AT for a full service and crystal replacement. I dropped it off at my local OB in Southern California on January 23. I recently called for a status update and was given an estimated completion date of May 16.
Yeah, I have no way of knowing whether they're waiting for parts or if my OB just sat on it for a while before shipping it off. Lesson learned, I now know better. At least sending it in directly, the status is easily accessible.
So there’s some peace of mind there.
Just a public service announcement. 😀 I had this issue one time and it was actually very stressful.
I always feel the need to mention, though (from personal experience): if you send it directly, then you’re at the mercy of SWATCH as to when the watch gets shipped back to you. Yes it’s faster to cut out the middleman (the OB or AD), but if SWATCH finishes the service and ships it out to your home at a time when, say, you’re out of town and unable to be there to sign for it, then that’s going to be a challenge for you to deal with. With the OB/AD route, you don’t need to worry: they’ll receive it for you and you can swing by to collect it at your convenience. So there’s some peace of mind there.
