Correct band/bracelet for 1967 Omega Auto Geneve Seamaster

I'm looking for a leather type watchband for my 1967 166.002 Cal 563 Omega Automatic Date Geneve Seamaster and I'd prefer it to be an Omega (for resale value). My watch is Stainless with 18mm between lugs so I think I can get away with black/brown, gator, snake, calf etc. I've seen them with pretty much everything including stainless bands but I really don't know how they came when new. I doubt I'll wear the watch and in case I decide to sell it, I'd like it to be nearly original. I have it at the watchmakers shop right now and I'm having the inside documented along with a NOS crystal. It runs great and keeps excellent time so hopefully it needs nothing between now and when I get it back in a week or two besides some cleaning/polishing. I prefer a new band but will look at used in excellent condition. Sorry for the crap picture, it looks WAY better in person. I scored it for less than the cost of a postage stamp so I can spend a couple bucks fixing it up. I'll post a better pic later

You can buy new 18mm straps from omega but they are grossly overpriced IMO compared to many quality strap companies out there and frankly the current offerings aren’t really close to what would have come on the watch originally.

If you look at catalogs of the period they would have been slim and unpadded, tapered from 18mm to 16mm at the buckle or even15mm many times, in either leather, calf or reptile (various reptile) with a simple branded buckle (the buckles changed periodically so finding one correct for your vintage is part of the fun of vintage watch collecting). Factory stainless bracelets were an option but were often available at the point of sale.

I wouldn’t get hung on a vintage strap- they often are brittle or damaged and don’t offer much for value unless as part of a full kit in unused condition- and then only as a novelty.

Holbens is a good place to get quality straps in the correct size, close to the correct style for the period and to your liking.

I think after getting the Omega fixed up, I may try to find some info on the little "Clinton" I got with the Omega and see if i can find somebody to clean/lube/service/rebuild etc...... I didn't find much on the Clinton watch (circa 1942 according to the inscription on the back) but I was able to wind it and get it to work. Looks like a endeavor into the Art Deco area for sure. It's the one on the bottom right. Is it worth the effort??? Hmmmmmm.......

Or maybe the Bullard's Automatic (Bullard Brothers)??? I had never heard of Bullard's OR Clinton watches before these showed up with the Omega.

Hopefully I can get J!M to post some pics of the Omega in the next day or two. He should have it open for inspection soon.

Thanks Jim for getting some pics back to me. The inside looks pretty good to me but if anybody has any comments, send em....

More pics coming soon. I think with a new replacement band (Thanks guys for all the options on them), it should show pretty good. If I remember correctly, the dial looked pretty nice with the scratched up crystal out of the way and now with the new branded crystal (looks like the original crystal was a correct Omega), it should be more than presentable. Maybe I'll use it for an upgrade path for a nicer one.

Jim says it's running +30 to +50 seconds a day but should improve with lube and regulation.

The correct bracelet is a 1502/1037 with 70 or 570 Endlinks.
If you want a nice Omega strap for your own enjoyment that’s fair enough, but you will absolutely not recoup the cost of your selling. Not by a long way.

Yep, that's my thoughts too. I think I'll just get a nice off-brand band. At $500-$1000 for a correct bracelet is WAY out of my price range especially for a "Daily Driver". Thanks
