Silly me 😵‍💫 I never noticed the date window. Its the same case as a Special but different movement, probably as you say a 14701.

I took the Constellation in to a watchmaker today and the ref number is 168.010/11. We sold the Seamaster to a dealer in order to cover the cost of a service for the Constellation. So we sacrificed the Seamaster to save the Constellation. It looks really good with a leather strap and feels good to wear. So thank you to everyone for the input. I feel like we made the right decision.

Just a follow up on the Constellation. Took it to a place here (Cape Town) which did a valuation for insurance purposes and gave its minimum second hand replacement value to be just under $2000 (without the bracelet). I think they just did a search of recent international auction sales and based the value on that. They also quoted around $300 for a service. I asked for a service of the inner workings only and not the cosmetic aspects, maybe just a basic clean. The glass / crystal has a large scuff mark on it which is irritating to me. I think they mentioned that they are able to do something to get rid of that mark and not necessarily replace it.

If it's 18k - Insurance value should be double that figure for the watch
Try and find one retail for less

Noticed that you haven't mentioned the bracelet for a while. It is the most special item of all the things you've shown us so far. Too bad if you've already sold it for scrap.

Your pictures don't really show whether it's yellow or white gold and you haven't answered question about it. If it's white, it's even more special.

Both watches look yellow to me
I think it's just the lighting in the pic in the box

I had a jeweler detach the bracelet from the watch and weigh it. The bracelet weighs 100 grams. A vintage watch dealer offered $1000, even though the gold value alone is around $2700, not to mention any value as an original bracelet.
It was not easy for the jeweler to remove the bracelet. I am hoping that no damage was caused to the case or the bracelet in the process. I am also hoping that no damage will be caused during the service. But thanks to this forum I have some excellent advice about specific things to tell the watchmaker before the service. Does it matter that the watchmaker is not the local service agent for Omega? They are the service agent for most other brands.
