How about this one, could take the case and back l and sell the movement?

Why did you pick that one, it's a totally different reference. Who knows if your dial would even fit correctly. But if you like it, bid on it, it looks pretty clean except for that one dark spot near the star. Then you can sell yours. Obviously, it's an auction so it won't sell at the starting bid if that's what you were thinking.

This is a 168.017 not a 168.004.
I dont know if the dial would fit but you would be just creating another Franken watch.

I don’t think we’ve seen pics of your current watch, so we don’t yet know if the parts are worth doing anything with.

According to Omega, your movement came from a ref. 168.004. If you want to make a "correct" watch, that's the case you need to find, like the first eBay listing you linked.

Also, it's not cheap, it's an auction with 9 days remaining. Most people don't bid until the last minute.

If you are patient, you will eventually find the case you need. I had a 14700 that a watchmaker destroyed by buffing and I was able to source a replacement case eventually. Really, patience is the key.

@Milog

this is the reference you are looking for ( below)
168.004, one dome dial one pie pan

I presume you have a dome dial version in your Seamaster case.
Your dial/movement should fit into any 168.004 case as long as it hasn’t been adapted to fit into the Seamaster case.

However, the dial/movt combo may not fit into other constellation case references as there are slight differences in dial sizes across the references.

I used to have this Constellation, ref 168.004 with serial no 23,004,xxx. This 564 (edit: cal 561 NOT 564 @Peemacgee Thanks for rectification) is a real workhorse! Sold this Connie to pay something else.
Good 'case hunting'

A 23,0xxx cal564?
That’s very early, would expect a cal561 in that period.
168.004s with a cal 564 are pretty uncommon (some thought they were franken until I found one with proof of the ref/cal combo from new) and usually have higher movt serials.
Because they are so uncommon, there is a thread about them , if you have pics of yours it would be good to add to that thread.

Sorry my former 168.004 was equipped with cal 561.

That's a 168.017 upper case, now you have to find parts for 3 watches on your quest

So if I’m piecing this together right you have a case from one type of constellation, a dial and movement from a second type of constellation and a caseback from a seamaster.

No way! Omega said.ir was a seamaster case and back and constellation movement and dial.
If this is correct the watch must be worth a fortune as it's probably the only one on the world

You're close, it'll cost a fortune to make it right instead 😁

Edit: To be honest, minus the caseback, it's a nice project, a sane person could've accepted it and enjoyed it - it's quite hard swapping dials as they are usually made for the case and the crystal combo

I could probably cope with a constellation back and leaving the rest. But even then I'll be living a lie. Any more thoughts on a value of the individual pieces if I split it?
